LOL the F/IC probably costs $100 total to manufacture, what a profit margin.

crush02342002 04-14-2010 09:08 PM

all the rest of the sensors arnt much more...not sure if thats an indication of anything..idk.

car_ram_rod 04-15-2010 02:22 AM

wow good find

rangerryda 04-15-2010 02:53 PM

Hmmm, maybe I'll investigate further :) Thanks a bunch crush.

rangerryda 04-15-2010 03:00 PM

Guess what I just ordered... hehe

crush02342002 04-15-2010 03:02 PM

lol...hope your good with solder!! if so we gonna have to talk...ideas aplenty

I'd be curious to see if that would work. From what I understand, per AEM, they use "the software" to calibrate the sensor. Would be an awesome post if it was able to be swapped. The only downside is not being able to send it to AEM if the hardware was tampered with.

Mine used to fluctuate a lot, so basically I did the same thing that Crush did, but went a step further with it...Right now I am bypassing both fittings, the one that routes inside the FIC and the "stepper" vacuum fitting that changes the diameter of the line inside. It goes like this now...

Tee'd off Brake Booster>vacuum filter that came with SSQV>FIC

Attachment 90583

Basically just two lines with the vacuum filter in the middle. Got rid of all fluctuations that I had and it is way smoother when tuning.

dbrummet 04-15-2010 06:28 PM

To be honest, I really don't know why they skimped out on THAT sensor. It is the only thing to tune the damn thing off of, besides TPS...

Why not just add a harness and use a real MAP sensor.:silly: Or at least have that as a future upgrade. Ah well, enough ranting.

now thats doing it up hardcore style...good job...there is got to be a way to calibrate the software to the sensor unless the sensors are made with tight specs then may not be necessary.

 Go HARD or go HOME!!!!

LOL...

It was very frustrating tuning it with that stupid onboard sensor, this basically fixed one of my big problems I had with the F/IC...

crush02342002 04-15-2010 07:19 PM

try tuning idle when somebody tapped the vac off the vsv...talk about problems...lol

weezyfbayba 04-15-2010 08:22 PM

just get a ultimate

Now that is funny!!!

crush02342002 04-15-2010 09:51 PM

you know those singalongs for kids that shows the words on the screen and the ball bounces over the words to sing...thats kinda the same thing...lmao

rangerryda 04-16-2010 02:30 AM

I'm pretty decent with solder Crush. Did my own LED swap no problem. I'll go pick up a solder-vac and bust out the grounded 25 watt pencil tip soldering iron and hope for the best!

crush02342002 04-16-2010 02:36 AM

gotta post up picks of your work when you finish!!!

rangerryda 04-20-2010 03:48 PM

It should be here today :)

rangerryda 04-20-2010 05:08 PM

Well, long story short, the new MAP sensor wasn't going to fix anything. The whole MAP sensor circuit is shot. Do you know how I know? Because when I pulled off the little vacuum line going into it, water came out... WTF?

The car ran perfectly whilst untouched and unchanged for over a year and then one day, no MAP reading. You would think it would slowly become less accurate or something but nope. So now, it's just a VTEC modifier lol. Everything else works perfect except the MAP circuit. If anyone is interested, let me know because I'll sell it for 100 bucks plus shipping to a Honda guy or something that wants to play with his VTEC tables or change the A/F since they have an onboard MAP that could be tied into one of the Aux inputs. I have everything that comes with a brand new one still in the box.

crush02342002 04-20-2010 06:49 PM

so somehow you sucked in water that made its way to the map sensor?....that really blows but did it really damage the board? pics man pics...this is deff new to me.

crush02342002 04-20-2010 06:50 PM

id say just try it out since you got the stuff to do it and just see what happens...if you screw up no harm no foul but if it works you just saved yourself some molla.
