yeah some issues there but I've seen some funnier looking graph, it might pull a lot smoother on a separate dyno pull

My car would run kinda Ok, but at about 4500rpm it would copmletely wig out, so it was impossible to tune.
I have not checked to see if the resistors were actually in there, but when I was talking with tony, he said they tried swapping my 02 sensor with no change, so they switched it back...then they did the resistors, helped a bit, and swapped the 02 again and WHAM...all good!

I actually got 2 new 02 sensors and gave one to aen and it fixed his issues...

After talking to Brett, I am almost positive now he has the same little issue, not a big one, just one that is still robbing him of power.

fingers crossed we can find a fix

Todd

i dont use either stock 02 sensor, so its not that. we think it has something to do with vvt-i making the knock sensor go retarded when it kicks in.

Yeah.. I'm interested if anyone data logs their pulls.. It'll be interesting to see the knock activity.

VVT-i is always working on these motors. It is not like VTEC where it comes in at a certain parameter.

really? cause apparently alot of tc's, not only mine, are having the same thing happen at the same place in the powerband. and the funny thing is that it happens on both e-manage, and f/ic. i thought that the valves didnt start to overlap till about 5krpm.

typically after 4k to 4500 the ecu reads ok so u wana go fast.. and it start advancing the timing and lean its self out. its working 24/7 but at certain points in the rpm range it says ok weee lets do et! and vvti just advances instead of the usual retard sluggishness u get in the lower rpm range.. ive logged the timing %'s on a friends informeter and noticed the shifts.. if you were running the full standalone you could control it.. but since the fic is not a complete one it has the small chirp around that range were the ecu wants to advance and the fic says SYKE!lol.. someone had finally worked it out but i forgot the post and who it was who did it... but i know it has been fixed.

are u running the latest update brett on the fic?

Nope. VVT-i is always working even at idle. The VVT-i curve looks something like a bell curve. (actually upside down). The mid-range if I recall is where the VVT-I is the least active with respect to duty cycle.

From service manual:

The 2AZ-FE engine is an in-line, 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC engine. The VVT-i (Variable Valve
Timing-intelligent) system, DIS (Direct Ignition System) and the ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control
System-intelligent) are used on this engine in order to realize engine performance and fuel economy, and
reduce exhaust emissions

VVTI window:
Intake
Open 3° to 43° BTDC
Close 60° to 20° ABDC
Exhaust
Open 45° BBDC
Close 3° ATDC

Pete's got it...it's always working, but it's used more over 4.5K somewhere. Weird thing is they told me when they swapped the f/ic for the emanage, everything tuned fine...
