Been at work for the past hmmmm *checks watch* 19 hours and been looking alot into some build ideas. Ran across this seemingly rarely used turbo; Garrett GT3082R and found some intresting specs.
To summarize the GT3082R (aka 3040) utilizes the same exact GT40 compressor wheel found in the popular GT35R (82mm 56 trim with .70a/r housing), but runs the smaller 60mm 84 trim turbine wheel from the GT30R. Quicker spooling 35R midget. I've never ran across this turbo before. It's not on Garrett's website, but there website is lacking much at that anyways *cough*GT3076R-13(60trim)*cough*.
Anywho, food for thought.

if its rarely used, its probably that way for a reason. i dont think that just because you go with a smaller turbine wheel, and a larger compressor wheel, that you will have a turbo that spools super fast and flows a gagillion cfm. otherwise we would all be rockin a mitsu 14b turbine with a gt42r compressor.
I don't know anything about the turbo you're asking about though lol just had to chime in.
Unhelpful post is not helpful
I wouldn't recommend it> With our displacement and long stroke, you're better off with a GT35R or a standard GT3076R. A 3040 will choke off on the turbine side long before you can take advantage of that compressor wheel. It's really meant for 1.8 or under displacement like say a Miata.
