Default Anyone running ZPI's 20g turbo

This one is just a thought righ now. I realize it's going to take more time to spool up given it's a larger turbo. If I'm going to be running a fully built small block than what the heck, why not try to get some more out of it. I just don't know if the added hp will show on a 1/4 mile or even hurt due to the increased lag. There's enough people running ZPI's 16g turbos to get a good over all review but I've heard very little about the 20G. Can anyone help me out?

Kennys running it, lol. Im pretty sure that Kenny had it on he's car when they hosted there shootout. You shouldnt experience 2 much lag.

I'll talk to him when it comes time to order. Besides that, I wounder just how much better the 1/4 mile times are. I've seen cars push more peak hp power when upgrading to a bigger turbo but lag so much they end up losing performance on their 1/4 mile runs.

You don't really need to worry about lag for 1/4 mile times. You're not going to be using the entire RPM band so it really shouldn't matter too much unless you completely choose the wrong size turbo and are getting all your boost in a matter of a 100 rpm. In which case, you'd have to reexamine a lot of things like tuning and point of life.

Other than that, it'd probably be nicer to run with a larger turbo. It's capable of more power and if it spools a little slower, you'll not have to drive around in boost all the time. The old videos of ZPI's kit when they first came out made it seem like 0-full boost in a second.

Nothing wrong with a quick-spooling street turbo cause it'll give you more kick all the time. The larger the turbo the less fun you'll have when you're tooling around town. If max power 1/4-mile assault is what you are after then a street turbo is probably not what you want.

I'm running the 16G and think having the power on-tap at any RPM is kinda of cool. It is true that the 16G runs out of steam when you get to the higher RPM's but at that point you are already going plenty fast anyway... You can always add a stagged manual boost controller that can take you the next level and will allow you to push more air into the block when you get to the higher RPM's.

I doubt you will tell a huge difference in spool. Our 2.4l can spool that with no problems.

Zero how is the spool on the 18G? How fast can you get to 9PSI? Anyone know the differences in the turbine from 16G-18G-20G? compressor Maps anyone?

Maps can be found here http://www.stealth316.com/2-3s-compflowmaps.htm. They are listed towards the bottom.

The difference between the two turbos is very small. The 20G is still a small turbo comparably. There is maybe an additional 20hp available. I am not sure if they are selling a TD06 or TD05. The TD06 is a much better unit.

The spool of the 20G that ZPI offers, is going to be substantially the same SPOOL time. I believe the 16G's wheel is the same size as the one in the 20G (allowing the 20G's to spool the same), but the 20G just has a larger housing (allowing it to flow more, creating more power than the 16G).
