Default Automatic Turbo

Hey guys and girls,

I currently own an automatic 2009 tC and was wondering if I were to install a turbo into it, what would be the power gain and what negatives would I experience in doing so.

I would also like to see some of your opinions on this topic if it would be smart or just a waste of money?

Welcome to the boards and congrats on the purchase! Most of our auto turbo kits have seen from 200-240whp on 5 PSI, depending on tuning and supporting mods.

The tranny does not like much power past 230-240...it starts to slip bad.

Just make sure you love your tC enough to buy Dezod s1, wideband, boost gauge and install. It's going to cost lots(5000.00) and you will still be driving the same car as every 16 year old girl in your hood.

Seriously stay away from ebay turbo kits, go with a respectable kit from a reputable place like dezod :D

You will definitely be more limited with an automatic than a manual especially if you turbocharge it, but like everyone else said you should be able to run between 200-250whp on the stock tC setup. If you want more power then you have to start upgrading other components especially with the transmission. All I have done is torque converter, valve body, and tranny cooler and I am at 400. Keep in mind I don't drive my car everyday and I don't dog it either. One thing you should know is that the automatic tranny will slip a lot more obviously than an upgraded manual. Hope this helps.

Just curious where u got your valve body and torque convertor, im at 220whp at 6 psi with a tranny cooler, ill be getting larger injectors soon (550cc) and going up to 8psi and hopefully around 240-250whp. LAte this year i hope to build the motor and go above 10psi and hopefully make ~325+ whp, at this point i know ill need to build the tranny so im wondering who makes upgraded parts for our auto

Hey man, IPT Trans is the company that has the upgrades for an automatic transmission. They have made some sick stuff for tCs already. Check em out, they aren't too expensive.
