Default blow through question

ok. i wanna go to a blow through setup i have a 3 inch intake for my turbonetics kit. i wanna know if i cut the maf section and use two 3 inch - 2.5 inch couplers if ill have any problems?
basically my setup would be like this:
Tb>2.5 inch pipe>coupler>3 inch maf pipe>coupler>2.5 pipe>bov>2.5 pipe
thanks!

get that welded in. if they are just cut you are going to blow that pipe off like crazy. get it bead rolled and you'd have less problems. it might honestly be better if you just buy a maf flange and weld it on about 6" out from the TB.

to answer your question though. yes it would work. will people recomend another way to do it? yes as well.

I wouldnt do 3" inch maf throat i ran lean for a while, it makes you run lean and have stumbles...i would stick what the maf is meant for 2.5". Dezod sells a blow through pope on there site.

i did something similar and i can tell u from experience that it makes a world of difference. my afr's were constantly different under boost. best bet would be to stay uniform with the diameter of piping. turbulent air is no bueno. our maf sensors are way too sensative for that. like sebby said, dezod makes a blow thru pipe and its def worth the $. i just got one a few months ago. another reason u dont wanna do that is bc ur adding 2 extra couplers in. u wanna try and use as few couplers as possible.

It's always the little things that we over look. That's why we post on forums for second opinions.

thatll work. just make sure that its welded on correctly. make sure its nice and straight as well. also make sure u keep it aprox 6" from ur bov or and bends. i would honestly give paul a call and see how much he would do that pipe for you for...its basically the s1 charge pipe, but blow thru. its already pre flanged for an hks bov...(damn i should work part time for dezod...lmao) its def worth the extra. plus they already put the r&d into it....

So 2.25 as long as its tuned for it is perfectly fine? I called dezod and they said the values would be skewed. I never mentioned tuning for it though as the kit is not yet installed that's why I wanna do it right before putting it on

Hmm try Paul again tomorrow I haven't heard that before maybe he was mistaken about your question. I could be wrong though.

^^^ this...plus im pretty sure the older s1 kits were 21/4" piping as well. just throwin this out there, if u decide to have the maf flange welded and it doesnt come out right, i have a s1 charge pipe thats 21/4" but its not blow thru...keep that in mind as a backup...lol...

haha def keep that in mind. screw it...whats 1/4 of an inch? also i know the maf needs to be 6-8 inches from the tb. but how far from the maf does the bov go? another 6-8 inches? im gonna cut my pipe cus right now the bov is where to maf needs to be so im gonna cut two equal sizes out of the straight portion, swap them and weld them and weld on the maf flange. could i put the bov anywhere i want? like closer to the intercooler? sorry for so many questions. thanks in advance everyone!

to the best of my knowledge, u want if after the intercooler. not sure if it would hurt performance putting it before it...ive never seen it done that way. i know zpi had the bov on the intercooler itself but it was on the cold side. take a look at my pics in my album. thatll give u an idea of whereabouts u wanna have it mounted. u also have to think about later down the road if anything fails with ur bov, how much of a pita its gonna be to access it. im a firm believer of k.i.s.s (keep it simple stupid) lol
