Your telling me....LOL, I have everything you just mentioned. I'm fully aware of the pit fall it creates. If you barely can afford the kit, then you shouldn't be boosting, because something is always bound to break.

The GReddy kit OPT. 1 after all the gauges/pod, BOV, PnP Harness, Oil, and Colder Spark Plugs. With shipping not including install or boost controller will run me about $4400 but I'll also have to shell $500+ for the install and at least $100+ for the tune. You can cut out $300 if you don't get the PnP Harness and that brings it down to $4100. You can also get $30 boost and oil gauges which would save at least $80. Cut out the AEM Wideband and save another $300 so now about $3775. Then later on make sure you get the better gauges. If you go GReddy, www.pracing.com should be able to hook you up with a good deal.

My bad, you can also cut out about $50 to $100 with a cheaper or used BOV. So now you're at about $3700. I would spend the money to let a pro tune it to be safe so add another at least $100 to bring it to $3800.
heh ... you guys are missing the point... he doesnt want the best turbo, he isnt racing it. he's just showing it. it just has to BE there.... sooooo .... yea, get a greddy, get your intercooler and bov, throw in a fancy lookin pillar gauge so it looks cool and you're done. still looking at the 4000 range even still. Don't get on the gas too much tho :D

If this is just for show, spend the money on a nice body kit, engine bay dress up, sound system, tvs, rims, tires and whatever else you can get for 4K. If I was going to do just a show car the turbo would be the last thing (if at all) I'd do. 99% of show cars I see and like don't have nothing but a header and intake and shiny parts under the hood. Most of the judges can careless if the car goes fast or even starts. Also make sure the car is so clean you can eat off of every part.

He should check out this thread for some ideas https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...r=asc&&start=0 Take the best things from everyones engine bay, add your own flavor, and make sure it's super clean like Merc_tc engine bay on page 9. I've seen lots of turbo cars the aren't nice looking under the hood. I may say "NICE" but sometimes it just means nice power not nice looking.
boost isn't a quick power trip, its a major investment man. Up keep, periodic tunning, etc. If you can't afford the boost bug, don't play. Anyone ever bitten by the boost bug knows what its like, you can't get enough no matter what you do.

Ive got 20 grand in body, paint, wheels, hood and hatch so far.... I havent even thought about turbo yet. To say your building a show car and just need a cheap turbo for the looks is appauling. Id like to know who's judging your shows, because its definatly not Andy Goodmans crew.
