BOOST?
Hey everyone i have a 2008 tc with 24000 miles on it and iam getting ready to turbo it, iam also gunna put new head studs and a new head gasket on and i was just wondering how much boost i could run with just that, because i see alot of people running anywhere from 5 psi-19psi but they only list turbo mods nothing about internals or anything. so any help would be appreciated thanks.
You should be able to daily drive your Scion on 8 to 10 psi really EZ depending on what kit you go with. Anything above that starts to require more attention. Call me if you have any questions, we are running some killers specials on our DESCENDANT Turbo Kits.
The amount of boost you can run safely is determined by the size of your turbo. As a rule of thumb 13psi as stated above. Also, if you're an automatic you should keep your torque under 240ish because you will harm your transmission that way.
alright iam building my own kit because i have figured it out to be cheaper that way. But i am going with a garrett 60 trim that one of my friends has for me he bought it brand new for his car and decided to go with a different turbo so he is giving me a killer deal on it. my car is manual so if i did like 11psi with a new clutch and the head studs and head gasket would that be efficent for a daily driver?
Superwhite you don't need head studs to have an efficent daily driver. A new head gasket always helps. Head studs are only if your putting down alot of power but since you only want 11psi you don't need them. Tuning will help you be efficent for everyday.
Agreed. I've known several peeps to go to 12 psi on a nice tune over 300 whp with no head gasket or studs and stock internals. It all relies on the tune and how hard you drive the car. The turbo size will matter also as previously mentioned but if you keep it moderate, you shouldn't have any issues. It won't hurt to have them for peace of mind though.
iv run 11psi daily and for a week or so iv gone to 14psi...all stock even clutch...trust me though the stock clutch blows hard after about 240hp 250tq....after tune (298hp 301tq) the clutch just let go on hard accl. everytime.

been boosted for over a year now on bone stock everything on 11psi making over 300whp and wtq. its all in your tune man a good toon and you'll be okay.
honestly to play it safe, on a 60 mm turbo, 10 psi would be plenty for a DD. And its only 1 psi lower but thats more margin in the case of tuning error or shiz that may go wrong. I'm on a 50trim at 9 psi and its plenty fast.
