That's been around for a while.

It's just a typical internal wastegate found on turbos - actuator arm connected to the butterfly. It'll open depending at whatever psi the wastegate was designed for.

thats pretty sexy, i love that you wouldnt have to mess around with open, closed switches. So all you have to do is run a boost line?

Can some one shed some light on these boost activated cut outs

Having that extra part on the exhaust would cause a pretty drastic HP loss when the valve is closed, and probably a small loss when it's opened.

^I really didn't think about that, but I can't imaging it being to drastic of a loss when closed

It would cause a massive disturbance in the exhaust flow. The gases will go to the valve, stop short, back up and get in the way of the other flow. Then when it's open, it has the valve running across the opening, blocking air flow. You'd be surprised at how sensitive the exhaust air really is. Just by putting a tailpipe sniffer in my exhaust caused a 3-5whp loss, and we tested it over multiple pulls.

The only way it would work, is if they were able to incorporate the system into the exhaust without having a secondary pipe, without having leaks, and without having parts in the way.

And the Corvette exhaust has a system like this to keep exhaust notes lower when the car isn't being driven hard.

It's a factory option.

there are no losses when compaired to whatever exhoust its running on...

exhoust will flow through the path of least resistance. so by putting a cutout on your exhoust will in no way make you lose hp unless your doing something wrong...lol

i have owned the qtp electronic exhoust cutout and i can confirm with dyno sheets that it gained hp.

so in short the cutout does not restrict flow anymore than whatever exhoust your running and when its opened you get 5x better flow over your exhoust.
