I just change my wastegate spring or shim it. Takes 5 mintues and less boost spikes.

If you plan on running more boost it would be a good idea to get it tuned for the PSI you plan on running. Any yes, You can adjust MBC's yourself.

I am personally going to be going with a Turbo XS dual stage boost controller. 2 stages of boost at the flip of a switch. Keep the stock wastegate spring as low boost and 3-4lbs higher as high boost. Simple design and hook up. 2 manual boost controllers toggled between the 2 by a simple switch:

Wastegate springs or mbc's?

Wastegate springs will run you only $40 and you can get any lb spring you want from dezod from 3psi all the way up to 20+:

(given you're using a 38mm tial WG)

MBC's will run you anywhere from $80-$100

I personally would used this MBC http://www.boostcontroller.com/index...26category%3D4.

If you are on a budget and fairly mechanically inclined then you could try this DIY MBC http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html.

Also you can adjust the MBC yourself. With a MBC things can get hairy so I would not recommend you messing with one unless you know what you are doing and understand how a MBC works and how easy it is to mess up you engine.

I used a SRP MBC $15.00. I set it to about 10 psi in the summer and disconnect it during the winter to maintain about a 11.5 afr all year round. I'm still on the Turbonetics Unichip stock tune and it runs great. If you go with a MBC be very careful with the inital settings.

So If I got this and the emanage ultimate I could have the boost set and tune for 8.5 and switch the boost and emanage switch for 10 for the track?

I found something a little simpler. The TurboXS dual stage is designed to run 2 stages of boost above the wastegate spring rate. The TurboSmart Single Stage boost controller is designed to run 1 stage of boost above the wastegate. So on this system. Low boost would be the stock wastegate boost level, and High would be a stage over that, whichever boost level you pre-set that level to:

"The Turbosmart Single Stage Boost Control Valve Switch allows you to switch between two boost levels from inside the cabin, using a "Rocket Launcher Switch".

The low boost setting is the "stock" boost level determined by your car's wastegate actuator.

The high boost setting is fully adjustable and uses the same detent system as the Turbosmart "boost tee", which makes adjustment easy and holds your desired adjustment... just set it and let go.

And, it also utilizes the same unique ball and spring design to bring boost on faster. The wastegate will not "see" any boost signal before your dialed-in bost level is achieved. The result is faster spool-up and more horsepower sooner!

Included from the manufacturer are: instructions, Rocket Launcher Switch, fitting hardware, and mounting bracket"

And it's even cheaper too!

To answer your question, you can switch between the 2 settings anytime anywhere from inside your car. Even at full boost. Say you're on the street and your WOT at full boost on the wastegate setting, you could switch on the fly and boost over to your high setting at the flip of a switch, and even switch back! Just be sure you have a custom tune for high boost and maybe even a lb or 2 over incase of surge if you turn using the greddy presure sensor.

I love the Blitz SBC Spec-S. That controller was a single solenoid wth 4 stages, all digital, with peak hold, and scramble capabilities. Plus it'll eliminate any boost spike common with some inexpensive single stage MBCs out there.

Yes it's more money. But it works time after time and I didn't have to worry about my motor
