Default Boost Creeping

I am having a little trouble with the boost on my car creeping up in 3rd gear it got real high at one point almost 13psi and almost KAPOW!! (stock computer). I cut the softest spring that comes with the waste gate and it boost around 7psi which is what I want for now, but then it creeps in 3rd. Anyone else ever have any problems..I have a turbonetics evolution waste gate and I am going to change it to a TIAL 38mm to see it will make any difference. I wonder if it is because I have the waste gate plumbed back into the downpipe?

The evolution and deltagate gates are notorious for creep from past experience.

We run TiAL and only TiAL because of the consistency.

I hope you mean the Deltagate only. Everyone I know who has had boost creep issues with the Deltagate switched to a Evolution and it was gone. Anyone else who had boost creep issues remain didn't have a good position plan for the wastegate and any gate would have creeped. I've used and worked with Evolution wastegates for years now and never had a creep issue NOT associated with wastegate location.

At PSI we always use a Evolution with no problems. But they never plumb the wastegate back into the downpipe. I know a guy that has a TC close to my setup using a TIAL with no problems

I have had customers use the evolution and still have creep issues. I swear by TiAL. Tested and tried time and time again.

Actually in some cases you're actually correct.

On a T25 turbo DSM running a 3" downpipe (apexi N1 for example), you get boost creep. You need to either port or change the o2 housing to fix this issue.

Rastas running a T4 exhaust housing, so it's not that in this case, but seems to be the wastegate. Hopefully switching out to a nice looking TiAL unit fixes the problem.

Man I changed the wastegate to a TIAL 38mm with a .5bar spring and it goes right up to .8bar any Ideas anyone. The wastegate is in a good place do you think it is the size of the Turbo?

Then maybe it is the 3" pipe. I have TIAL as well, and never experienced boost creep. I'm running the ZPI exhaust/S-pipe which is 2.5 all the way through.

You may need a larger WG to help regulate the pressure. Maybe a 41mm

I would trend to agree but I mean we are not talking big boost here .5 that is nothing for this waste gate to handle I am supposed to put the AEM on next week but with this problem I don’t know what to do. I plan to put it up to 12psi but if the creeping keeps up I'm screwed.

I doubt that is the problem. I mean it has big exhaust housing. I think it is the size of the turbo I don’t think anyone has one as big as mine on there TC. I tell you what though if I can get this thing figured out this car is going to run hard. I can feel it when I am driving it, it wants to get crazy...If I hammer it in 3rd it cut the tires loose the boost gets to around .7-.8 bar.

Big boost, not always warrant a big wastegate and vice versa. Sometimes just the shear size of the turbo (big turbo on a small displacement motor) may need a medium size WG to help regulate the boost.

What size turbo are you running?
