Default Burning Oil

I am going to take the turbo off my car today.
I have been getting a bad burnt oil smell at stops. I am in a lot of stop n go traffic on the 210 during rush 3 hours. All I can say is poop!! I hope it isn't major. I see no leaks anywhere on the car. Maybe a lil vapor residue at the top of the turbo from the oil line connector.
Anyone else have a similar problem?
Thanks for any input.

did you check your oil return fitting to make sure it wasn't leaking a little oil and burning?

I just actually saw that. There is a slight leak, it looks like the gasket is saturated. Woot!! I may just retighten everything. Other than this man, this lil kit is sweet. I haven't tuned it still, stock injectors, it runs pretty decent. Takes a bit to get back to 14.7 after a rev but it doesn't stall. O ya Props to Chris @ chris-garage.net for giving me a hand at DMC Muffler in La Verne last week. Those dudes are top notch.

aH, I got bad blow by. I found oil in the intake. I put a breather filter on the crank case instead of the hose, but i still get a real bad oil smell. It actually burns my eyes. Time to build a little?

i see you have oil in the intake. do you have it in your charge piping? if you do then i wouldn't be so quick to assume it is blow by. i would bet more on the turbo seal first.

I do notice some blackness on the bov fin. I ran my finger on the inside of the throttle body, it was clean. I am going to disassemble the kit this weekend for sure to find out. Thanks for the input man.

ive got the solution for you if your problem is similiar to mine, its a pretty cheap fix as well,

First: there are two pcv valves that exit the valve cover, one going in front of the turbo on the intake, and another going to the intake manifold.

for the line to the intake run an oil catch can, BUT open the catch can up and fill it with metal scuff pads that you use for scrubing dishes (this filters the humitified oil out of the air) get em at dollar tree or 99cent store or something cheap

and for the line running to the intake manifold, go to harbor freight or some kind of hardware store that sells air compressor parts, and purchase a air/water seperator, they go for about 10 bucks, get the fittings you need and install... take a drive around the neighborhood and take a look how much oil this thing gets!!!

now i cant say that this "cures" your engine, because there is physical damage caused to the rings. but this will prevent the oil escaping the crankcase from being burnt up in the combustion chamber. also my intake tubes were blowing off because of oil saturated silicone connectors.i still get alittle oil burning smell after doing this but nothing compared to what i had before. The motor was getting progressively worse very quickly before i did this and since doing this i think i have pevented any further damage from occuring

another thing that should be done is a part throttle tuner like the dezod black box. its very scary to see your afrs at high 14's low 15's with 6 or 8 pounds of boost! i believe alot of my engine damage is due too this problem, i think i was boosted for 1 year before installing the dezod black box

anyways good luck ill post some pictures of this setup tomorrow

Oil in intercooler piping and intake piping is very common in turbo cars. Catch cans are your friends. Some people even use slash cuts in their exhaust to have the exhaust pull the built up pressure from the valve cover .

Just make sure to keep an eye out for your oil level at regular intervals - if it's burning within spec (about .5 qt every oil change, you're okay).
