Well I went to the dealer today and my salesman said that the other s/c here in town is also having an oil leak but it's in the seal right beside the s/c, not on the shaft. I made an appointment for Monday to have my oil pan checked and fixed and I guess I'll see then if I have to pay for it or if they will.

I will bet you that there is a design flaw in this S/C unit that is causing this. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

If I am going to trade the tC in it will be on either a 350Z or an S2000
get the 350, i have a turboed civic too, but s2k's are 4 pssyies....

initially i replied with

josh asked me who my friend was, to which i replied

which basically means, the one getting the engine replaced, i dont know the owner of said vehicle, i got the information from our sponsor at the dealer, the Scion Sales Mgr....

Hope that helps , next time, when you post, please try to have viable input to the topic at hand....

thanks

Ouch. Good luck with that guys.

It's funny how a "Moderator" (who's 27 yrs old by the way) can't type, spell, or use proper grammar, yet when they are called out on it, they tell you to "have viable input". "They one getting the engine replaced"??? Does that make sense to anyone else. Ehh but what do I know??

Anyways, good luck to all those with leaks. I dont have the s/c yet, but I'm looking at getting it now that the auto kit has been released. But, I sure would like to know what the deal is with this leak stuff before I spend my $3000+.

ok guys, quit with the crap to each other. I will let you all know what the dealer says. They said I am the first person to bring the S/C to them with that problem so they have to figure out what they are going to do.

Im thinking that its got to be bad seals or bad installs for the guys that have had problems with the leaking. im running the 9lb pully on the sc and have put close to 4000 on it and no signs of any leaking or anything. good luck trying to figure out what the problem is.

How close is the OEM heatsheild with a S/C installed. Maybe heat is a factor, as mentiond.

^Possibly, I'm not having an oil leak out of the shaft however with an identical setup but out of a bolt above my oil pan. Related? Possibly. I should find out Friday if I get to take it in.

Has anyone thought of using a Heat Gun to make the plastic maliable again and take off the tamper proof cap without ruining it?

According the the TRD S/C Install guide that is how they get it on, Heat Gun for teh win.

Another thing, If we are screwed on the warranty, Do we have anyway of fixing these seals ourselves?
