cam bucket/ clearance
well my motor is being assembled now. but the cam bucket's that i have are to tight. is there a table anywere that i can just measure were the clearance's are at now and it will tell me what size bucket i need to be at the right spec? this is basicly that only thing that's holding me up from finishing my motor.
if ur looking to make 300 hp thats fine. when ur going for 600+ then u build the head with 8k redline 6262 turbo & bc cams dual springs and titanium valves. now anyone else?
ya im not going for a regular 450 build lol. i got the right setup. je pistons pauter rods acl coated race bearings block is sleeved. fully built.. descendent intake mani yaddaa etcc
just an idea..
maybe try a telescoping bore gauge...http://www.amazon.com/Telescoping-Bo.../dp/B001RJS280
without the bucket in but cam inplace measure from end of valve stem to cam, take that measurement and do the proper deduct (thats listed in the manuel). then take that measurement and look up the proper bucket.
you can test this idea using other buckets that are the correct size.
id test it for you but i dont have telescoping bore gauges.

lol..yeah that angle looks like someone sprayed it with black paint.
engine looks clean though.
I just got finished building Kyle's engine. its in the car bolted down, just needs loose ends tied. then i get to do mine.
what gap did you set your rings at? we went with .021 top .025 second and the oil rings we didnt need to do anything to (they all measured out over the min .015

if we stuck to cp recomendation for n/a street setup we would have been within spec but we set it up to cp recomendation for turbo apps. except the top ring I ran it a tad tighter by only .001.

X2. Search online, find the repair manual, download it, and in it you will see how to measure and get the correct bucket size needed. Down load the correct manual. 05-06 and 07+ have some differences in some of the componets, I am not sure if the precedure is the same on the 05-06 vs the 07+. I would think it is but just make sure to look at the right year manual to be positive.
