Default Check Engine light wont turn off...dammit!

it's annoying the heck outta me, i just recently boosted my car, got the greddy emanage to work, it's tuned, it runs greatly...BUT, my check engine light wont go off. i thought it was because it was originally running really rich, but now, it's been leaned out, and it wont turn off

WHHYYYY??

Have you taken it anywhere to get the code read and find out what is actually wrong?

if you got a buddy with a scanguage, borrow it and hook it up to read and clear the code. it might be throwing different codes at different times.

if you think its the same code, take it to an auto parts store

The scangauge will reset the codes.. but if the problem remains, it'll just come back after a while.

Have you gotten gas lately, your gas cap may not be on right. take it off and put it back on till it clicks three times then it will take three to four times starting and stopping but it should go off

Best guess is no anti-fouler on the O2 sensor at the s-pipe. That'll throw a CEL quick when running catless(factory exhaust manifold replaced by turbo manifold or aftermarket header).

This happened to my wife. We took her car (corolla) back to toyota and they told me it was the gas cap. I thought they were stupid. But it went away. Next fill up I left it off to check and the CEL came on!!

Yes very common..

Another common CEL is on the '05-'06 TCs.. the 02 sensor goes bad and give a P0171. I just had mine replaced under warranty.

^^ bad o2 sensor gives that code? poop, mine is prolly bad lol..
but P0171 is a lean code, pay attention to that too.. If its a cat efficiency code and the car runs great, i wouldnt worry bout that

There is a system with a valve and a pressure sensor to check the integrity of the vent system. It opens a valve from the tank to the intake manifold, draws a vacuum on the system, and measures the time it takes the vacuum to go away. If it goes away too fast it pops the CEL for a vent system problem. If it goes away too slowly it pops the CEL for a valve or pressure sensor problem. Hard to fool.

The sad thing is that it has added many parts to the system to fail. Planned obsolescence.
