Default Is clutchmasters S1 enough for 250-300whp?

in ZPIs website it says that the stock clutch will hold up for a little bit with a S1 turbo car. I was wondering since the S1 CM is rated at 70% more than stock if it could handle Zpi stage 1 power? also, how much does installation usually run for a fwd clutch?

Stage 1 - Designed for enthusiast who has added an exhaust system, intake system, up to 50hp NO2 upgrade, or other non-forced induction external bolt-ons.

Stage 2 - The FX200 offers similar torque holding capacity to the FX100, however, with the Kevlar disc, its life expectancy is increased 2-3 times.

Stage 3 - Designed for the ultimate street enthusiast or weekend racer running a normally aspirated car equipped with cylinder head work and/or hotter cam(s), or with medium-boost turbo or super-charger, or up to 100hp NO2.

(in my opinion, make sure with Stage 3, it is at the same price of Stage 2)

You don't have to worry about hp with clutches, it's about how much torque it can handle. Clutches are ranked in how many lbs of torque they can handle, hp doesn't influence it. I don't know the numbers of stage 1 or 2 but I know with stage 3 it can handle something like 345 lbs of torque. The ACT street strip clutch can handle the same I believe, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

My clutch seems to be doing ok right now. I've had a little bit of slippage a couple of times. I'm hoping that it hangs on until this summer so I can get a new clutch, flywheel, and LSD (if it's out) put on by ZPI. I'd like to do it now but I don't have the cash for it and I'm waiting until the LSD comes out so I can just get it all done at one time.

Yeah I know what you mean man... I have had some pretty nice slippage here and there.. and am a lil worried, but hell, hahah, maybe I will just wait till it wont get into gear.. lol.
I was wondering about the lightened flywheel, do you think it is such a good idea? I am wondering if it will cause too much wheel spin... wondering what you thought. unless of course Quaife does come out with something.. hehehe

I think the flywheel would be nice if it's the right weight. Now I know the fidanza weighs something like 8lbs which seems too light for a daily driver to me. I emailed clutchmasters to see what their's weighed but they haven't emailed me back yet. If it's about 10-12 lbs that sounds about right for a daily driver. I think it would be nice to have the car rev faster so we could get into boost faster. Wheel spin might be bad with it but I think Quaife should be close to completing their LSD. Numerous people from here have emailed them and they keep saying a few months (April, May maybe?) and sticking with that answer so I'm pretty hopeful.

Just fyi - the 8lb fidanza flywheel works just great for me as a daily driver.

Good there's finally somebody with experience with these that I can ask some questions. I've been waiting to talk to somebody with a new flywheel. Are your revs quite a bit quicker with it? How hard is it to launch the car and does it kill your leg in stop and go driving?

Light weight flywheel is not as bad as everyone say it is. I had a fidanza on my 300zx it weight in at about 12 pounds compaired to the stock 25+lbs. Daily driving is as normal as it comes. The car revs faster and so forth. Launching the the car I just had to rev a little higher and slip the clutch a little more so it dont bog down. But it wasnt a noticeable difference in daily driving though. When I have the money and when my clutch dies, I will upgrade teh clutch and get the 8lbs flywheel also...pair that with lighter crank pulley you can rev like a mad man! lol

If your going for a daily driver and not super high hp/tq numbers, I would go with the lowest stage clutch that would meet your needs. Usually, the high the clamping force, the harder the clutch pedal... unless you want to get a quadricep/calf workout everytimg your stuck in traffic.

Zup Mac. I fried my clutch a few days ago. Still limpin around tho. After lots of research I decided to get a CM stage 1. Paul Dezod sells an ACT that seems like it may be a little stronger but it also cost $100 more than I paid. The CM stage 1 came from ultrarev.com $268.13 plus shipping. Also found a discount code:tsxclub good for another 5% off. Total price shipped $267.24. I don't know anything about this company but they have excellent feedback on ebay. I picked up a copy of modified mag march 06 last night and this is the setup they're using on their tc. Its supposed to hold up to 275 ft-lb. I decided to avoid kevlar they don't recomend it for drift and my tires are forever spinning. Max power clutch dump is what fried it in the first place. I ordered a fidanza from ZPI for $259-they said it won't ship till next week. If ya think your clutch is dyin it would probably be agood idea to order parts ASAP. If ya want to save on install we could try doing both cars on same day. I'm not certified just pretty good do it yourselfer. I could probably use the help and it would be nice to have a backup car if any extra parts are needed. Also if ya have'nt done sways yet lo bux's install said this is the perfect time to do them. Trdsparks has got em for $230 shipped till they run out. Next batch will cost more they say.

Fidanza makes a flywheel for the tC. It's a little over half the weight of the OEM flywheel and you can get it from Titan Motorsports. It's the best mod you can do to an NA tC outside of swapping out the stock Potenzas for tires that lack the "sucking" power of the Bridgestone Potenza RE92's. The improvement is shocking.

Stage 3 clutch from clutchmasters is 110% clamping force over stock. And on a daily driver I wouldn't ger much more than that.

Next weekend, I will be purchasing a Stage 3 Clutchmasters and a Fidanza flywheel, in preparation for the Stage 0 From ZPI. This should be a great addition to a turbo setup.
