Considered ZPI Turbo Kit?
Stupid question but I was just wondering, I got a custom turbo kit done, but I did the same setup as the ZPI Stage 0 kit, 16g Evo Turbo, Tial Wastegate 38mm, HKS SSQV, Pretapped Oil Pan, same manifold, but the pipings are setup differently. I just wanted to know if it would still be consider as a custom ZPI Stage 0 or just a custom turbo. Its just not straight from ZPI.
well, zpi isn't around so who cares? lol.
what you have is a stage zero knock kit of the zpi stage 0 kit. you can't call it a zpi kit because it isn't actually from zpi.
also, did you use a chinese knock-off mitsubishi turbo? no? then you don't have a zpi kit.
but then again...i wouldn't call it custom either, more like "homemade" stage zero kit. how about that.

hm. haha. i guess so. the 16g that i got is straight from mitsubishi so it wouldn't be consider as a knock-off then would it. but i was also wondering would i be fine without fuel injectors and emanage for awhile. my car is gonna be put away for the winter so i wouldn't be driving it until the spring. i'll be at 6psi on an auto.
you don't need bigger injectors until you up the boost, but i wouldn't run it without some sort of tuned piggyback ecu, and a transmission cooler.
the ecu will get you a much better tune, and the tranny cooler is just good for the life of your tranny.

but look at it this way. if i sowed my own suit based on a picture in a catalog, could i honestly say it is an armani? nope. even if it was made from the same fabric with the same thread and seams and buttons. it isn't a real armani suit.

To make that statement, I assume you have proof that the turbo is a chinese knock-off mitsubishi turbo right?
Chinese must make good stuff then, with the way I wax on other cars. Your implication is that its a POS kit, when we all knew it was a force to be reckoned with. If it wasn't, the original poster would not be trying to mimic one...
To the OP....You Do know there are different variants of the Evo 16G turbine right?
- DSM Mitsubishi 16G Turbo 340hp
- DSM Mitsubishi BIG 16G Turbo 350HP
- DSM Mitsubishi Evo 3 BIG 16G Turbo 380HP
- Evo 8 Big 16G
- Starion/Conquest 16g Turbo 340HP
- Starion/Conquest Big 16g Turbo 380HP
- Subaru MHI Turbo 16g Upgrade 340HP
- Subaru MHI Turbo Evo or Big 16g 380HP
Are some of the ones I find listed for sale. All 16G's but some are rated at different Peak HP levels.

He said though that BMW had no immediate plans to start producing its 7-series model.

I edited it for you to prove my point
my only point is that someone said that ZPI turbos were crap since they were made in china. I said that BMW must be crap then too since BMW's are made in china.
all I proved is that some BMW's are made in China, so they are crap too?

But the part in question is the turbine ZPI uses.
yes, i have heard from several people that they began putting chinese knock-off's of mitsubishi turbo's in their kits. which wouldn't surprise me considering where the company is today.
no, i don't have personal proof, so you can take it what i type with a grain of salt, but from what i've heard from shops that have installed the kits, and people who have seen the kits, it is quite an uncomforting thing to hear.
anyway, why are we so uppity to defend a company that screwed over so many people, and was ran by a guy who took everybodies money and ran?

also, zpi bought the turbos and didn't make them, so people are defending the turbo itself, not ZPI.

Oh what "Set-Ways" we conspire within ourselves because of Here-Say...
If a Block Buster Feature made billions at the box office, would you not go see the movie because a few people said it was produced in Taiwan?
I'm not defending a company. You insulted me by telling me my turbo was a Cheap POS Chinese knock-off. Implying that it was worthless (or am I reading to much into it). The saying goes, it's not about "What" you say, but "How" you say it. Well, on a forum, it's reversed. A well known company (Turbonetics) has had problems of leaky turbo seals, crack wg downpipes after a short period of HARD use, and they use their own turbos. So, would you then go so far as to say the Turbonetics kit is of poor quality? I know I would not. I think they have good quality. But we are talking about Forced Induction here. ALL the kits have their said problems, not one single kit is perfect. 2+ years running here, and you know how often I raced our car. I'm just now needing a turbo rebuild for leaky seals.
