Default a couple turbo questions

i am about to get a new turbo for my tc and i was wonderin if someone could possible tell me what else i will need to get with the DEZOD turbo kit. does it come with everything you need? also which gauges would i need to get? im pretty well a nOOb when it comes to turbos so any information would be very helpful. also, if neone that has the DEZOD turbo setup on their car could tell me about how much they paid for the turbo kit and gauges and tuning etc etc.. i would jus like a ball park figure of what im lookin at exactly. thanks every1.

you'll need gauges (boost and air/fuel) clutch, colder spark plugs, engine management that should be all.

Thanks for the turbo break-in article. Quick question, in the article it says to use high quality NON-Synthetic motor oil. I know alot of people use Synthetic oil, now i'm confused of which type I should buy. Can someone give me the logic behind using Non-Synthetic oil for the break-in period? Thanks for your help.

here's what I did:
Dezod kit
colder spark plugs
fully synthetic mobil1
boost and air to fuel (wideband) gauge.

It wound up being around 5k and I still have this left to do:
Oil Pressure gauge
Greddy Pressure Sensor for tuning
Clutch
Boost controller
Turbo Timer
Emanage support for datalogging

Our kit includes fuel and engine management, so as far as that is concerned, you're covered. I would recommend a clutch to help harness the power and a boost gauge w/ wideband O2 at minimum. The pressure sensor and harness will help with the clarity of the tune overall as well.

The kit itself is very comprehensive.

Either Redline, Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Amisol....any full synthetic fluid will be fine. (assuming the proper weight and such for application)

I'm using Amsoil 5w-30. Luckily I have a local race shop/BMW tuner that carries it.

Hey don't worry about that comment. just get your turbo kit and have a bunch of fun. you now know what you need to know. And i would invest in a clutch because the stock one will be shot in the matter of weeks depending on how you drive. i would go with a cc or zpi.

I will agree with you that you aren't born knowing this stuff. That's why I think forums are a huge help with new projects.

Let's not jump down anyone's throat since they are new to the FI club, and can't we all just get along?

That was low

It stopped snowing, but now it is almost -20 with the wind chill

And I hate you for rubbing in the 80 degrees, but how's your taxes in California and the smog regulations treating you? <-- bustin' ***** right back
