Default cracked crank pulley WTF?

So we were driving in my bro's turbo tc and all the sudden it starts running funny, gets check engine, battery light, no power steering, and temp shoots up. We are like wtf? It was only 2 blocks from home so we idled it there basically.

Got home and noticed the belt had come off, jacked up the car and the crank pulley is cracked and hanging there just cause its snagged on the belt. Pretty sure the crank shaft is scratched up so he needs a crank pulley, crank shaft, and i think we are doing rods and pistons, might as well right.... Its weird how this happened, and the crank pulley isn't damaged at all.

not realy....you see the broke "coller" on the crank pully? that has a seal around it that is pressed into the timeing cover...look at yours. iv had a nissan altima crank pully crack on me and destroy the seal. crank was fine. not saying it didnt hurt that crank on the 2az though.

from that picture it looks like the part of the crank pully that broke is where the keepers would slide through....are the keepers still on the crankshaft???

I don't think you'll need a new crank. Need more pics!

We might just end up putting a new engine in, he was having trouble with valve clearances also. I might be able to score one for under $600 if thats the case then we will just do that.

I'd be skeptical of that, unless you know where the engine comes from. The lowest I've seen running 2AZ's go for is about $1200.

did u guys by any chance left the engine hanging off of one motor mount (passenger side) or dropped it too quick when doing the clutch swap? That could of jammed up the pulley against the engine bay frame and do some damage.

good point but idk...i could see messing up the outer parts of the pulley but the inner part idk cause the pully is on the crank fairly tight, it would take some sort of play in order for it to crack like that.
