Default custom exhaust work.

i put this on this thread because it has to deal with the s/c. so heres my question, i have the s/c with 9.5 pulley and Tsudo 4-2-1 Header. how is that gonna sound with a custom 3 inch exhaust with a fart can. im looking at p-tunings 3" exhaust and it sounds good but i dont have 700 to spare. i can get it done here at a local shop for 200 BUT i wont have the resonator. does that mean its gonna be louder and more rasp or just loud. this is y i say a fart can cuz i already have one and hoping it will give me a nice deep tone. what yall think.

i too have a s/c tc and header, i recomend that you dont go any higher than 2.5in in piping, and as for exhaust go with an axleback and some resonators, it will be nice low and deep. thats just my opinion though.

but that will affect your performance a bit. you want to have that bit of back pressure, remember you are partialy all motor as well.

yeah but i thought p-tuning said it was fine. they dynoed it and it made gains. i pretty sure they would sell something that would lose hp

but thats for turbo applications, the turbo does need to have a good open exhaust for it to flow out quick. i have the 2.5 and it flows great, and remember whatever is going your motor fast with a turbo or s/c is coming out fast too. its up to you my friend i wouldnt go higher than 2.5 in our car not even with a turbo.

header, 3 inch exhaust, no resonators, fart can.
chances are its gonna sound pretty bad.

id go with a 2.5 and skip the fart can too.
not only are they obnoxiously loud, they do nothing but attract cops.

Should be all the info you need. Even shows the dyno graph from the pulls of before and after the Ptuning 3" exhaust. My exhaust setup in the video is Megan header and Ptuning header-back exhaust.

The exhaust setup I had before the Ptuning exhaust was Megan header, Invidia s-pipe, custom mid-pipe with hi-flow cat and resonator, and Magnaflow cat-back.

My current setup is different now. Got rid of the Megan header and installed a Moroso Spiral Flow muffler. At highway speeds, you can expect a 3" exhaust to produce droning at highway speeds.

well theres diff size resonators. so you could get 2 small ones or 1 big one etc...

for a tip, you can just run its straight back or make one yourself so it looks a little nicer.

alright dude, listen to me, cuz i have personal experience with this.

i had my tc dyno'ed with the supercharger at 7 psi, weapon-r 4-2-1 header and s-pipe, stock mid-pipe and trd exhaust, i made 209 whp.

now, the the mid-pipe and trd exhaust replaced with full 3 inch exhaust with only a muffler on it, i made a gain of...3 whp.

also, the car was beyond loud. it was deafeningly loud. like louder than a jet fighter making a sonic boom loud.

even now, i have had a high flow cat, and resonator put on, it is still very loud, far better than it was without them, but still very loud.

so if you plan to make your exhaust custom, do not go larger than 2.5 inches, and you absolutely will need a big resonator, and a good muffler to keep the car sounding civilized.

also, you get what you paid for. my exhaust wasn't cheap, but, but it is beautiful, has a great exhaust tip finish, and has amazing welds and mandrel bends, and gets compliments whenever i get it up on the lift at the dealership for maitenance.

they wanna do it for cheap...what kind of material are they using, what type of bends are they making, and how good will the welding be?

exhaust can't mess up very much with your car, but why spend money on putting garbage under your car for such a tiny dyno gain?

get it done well and right.

hahaha, yeah...i was so psyched out when i got the baseline dyno before they started making the exhaust and was like "wow, 209 whp already! i'm going to be making 220 whp once that exhaust is done! awesome! whoo hoo!!!"

since a stock supercharged tc dyno's 190 whp roughly. but i guess the weapon-r header, and the zpi light weight crank pulley might have contributed to that 209 whp.

so i had the exhaust resonated and cat'ed to quiet it down, and swapped on the 9.5 psi pulley and made 225 whp. the exhaust is still loud, so i'm going turbo to quiet it down, and make more power.
