Custom Oil container for Turbo ???
This is just a thought guys let me try to explain, since you have to tap the oil pan for the turbo, I was thinking if you could make a separate container and mount it somewhere safe in the engine and have that be the oil source for the turbo. Can this be done if so would it be safe ?

dont go too far, u can fab up your own dry sump for cheap u can get a tank to hold about 2qts of qoil and two pumps.. one for feedind the oil at around 130psi and one for returning the oil to the tank at gravitational pull...to be really honest u only need a pump for the feed if u have the can placed under the turbo

doesn't the engine need oil to work properly?

but I was referring to the turbo. Water cools better than the oil.
The only issue with a "wet" center section is for road racers as they are not allowed to run actual coolant at the tracks. They have to run 100% water.
otherwise for a street car its ideal, the turbo get lubricated by the actual coolant (same way the oil works)
And water lines are allot easier to install than oil lines.

how much would it cost to convert an oil only cooled turbo to a water only cooled turbo

Can be changed out when ordering a new turbo. All manufacturers offer it.
Otherwise you would purchase a new "wet" chra and use your old housings.(sell your old oil cooled/lubed chra)

true on that though, i've been told by few people they didnt run any water lines on their gt turbo and didnt have an issue.. but as i see it they have their car always in the garage while i drive my car everyday so no point not doing it the right way..
