Default Custom S16G setup ?

What are the chances of scoring all the parts seperately to piece together a kit? I was building a 350 whp 2.4 L Dodge Neon motor but I've decided to buy a brand new Scion tC after I sell my house. I have a brand new Hahn S16G sitting in a box and several other "universal" parts that could be transferred over to my new tC. Here are the specs on Hahn's reworked 16G.

http://www.hahnracecraft.com/hahn/parts/s16g.htm

I have turbo experience and I would rather piece my kit together than purchase a premade one.

Are there non-gated manifolds since the Hahn uses an internal WG actuator?

Are there injector upgrades?

What are people using to control the PCM and hide the boost? (map clamp, AOBE, ?)

Anyone controlling fuel, spark, timing? (We use Megasquirts on Neons)

Can I run 11 psi on stock internals and keep a reliable car?

I don't want this to turn into a race car because my Neon ended up being a beer can with two race buckets and no interior/etc so I'm trying to keep this mild enough that I can daily drive without reliabilty issues. I've searched a bit but not found a lot of specific answers to my questions. Thank you for taking the time to help a future tC turbo owner out.

Kind Regards,

B

Their kit uses a EVO III GT 16g, almost exactly the same as a MHI 16g. They are having tremendous luck with that turbo and producing nice numbers and I would bet an 11 second 1/4 with it.

Maybe zpi would sell you the log manifold seperate, so you can custom make your own. Although I am not sure about the non gated manifold. Havent seen one yet.

I appreciate your time and info. Perhaps I'm going to have to go to these manufacturers and see if they might be able to accomodate me. I've just had tremendous experiences and performance building my own turbo systems. I'm not a fan of instructions and all items included :D Neon owners are notorious cheap skates so we try to find a way to save money and net better performance. We've had great success pulling 300+ horsepower with these S16G setups on the 2.4 L out of the older PT Cruiser motors. I happen to have a brand new 2.4 block that I was planning on dumping SRT-4 internals into. I'm thinking about selling my Dodge project and dumping the money into getting my tC turbo'd right out of the box.

What compression does the tC have stock and has anyone found the limit on the stock rods and pistons? I know in our 2.4 the rod is usually the first thing to go. The SRT design manages to handle about 450 whp before they get out of shape. It really depends on the revs also because if you start to crank up to 7k then your chances of spinning a rod bearing go up.

Does the tC use a baffled oil pan or is it a standard slosh bucket?

Sorry if these questions aren't very standard but I've yet to buy a Factory Service Manual for the tC yet but I think that is going to be on my list of priorities before I buy one. With that I should be able to start studying everything relevent.

Regards,

B

The tC block seems to handle boost very well. The pistons seem to be the weak spot but with a proper tune 300+whp is very easily obtainable. We have hit 397whp on stock internals on race gas.

We can get you set up with the parts that you need. We have the manifolds and can sell them non externally gated. We also just sell the head plates if you would want to build your own. We have the RC injectors in stock. We have used Emanage, S-AFC, Or the camcom to handle ECU managment. Really depends on preference as they are all about the same price.

Give us a call or AIM on tuesday I am sure that we can help you get this project under way. Check out our site to give you some ideas as far as the turbo kits go.

I appreciate the info. I'll have to shoot you a call so we can talk a bit more. It sounds like your kit based of a very similar turbo is having great results. I see you also sell the injectors and emanage. I've never messed with emanage but I'm sure I can figure it out. I'll get with you in the next couple days or so and we can discuss this more. Thanks for your time and replies.

I was aiming for that in my beer can Neon. I would be happy to do that rolling in style. I bought a house and so I've been driving my "project" instead of the new car I had planned. The Neon weighs right at 2000 lbs and I'm running low 14's with a stock motor and some bolt-ons I had leftover from my last Neon. I caught the turbo bug working on a buddies turbo 2.4 liter Neon so I started collecting a new block and parts for my hybrid swap. I was hoping to get deep into the 10's with my Neon project but I really need a nice reliable street car. The ladies don't quite love my car rattling to hell with solid motor mounts and without any interior, carpet, or anemeties. The car is literally a rolling stripped chassis/body with two Corbeau racing seats and harnesses. Power steering, airbags, windshield wipers, fluid, horn, spare sheet metal? What's that? My project went from mild to wild like most things I work on and now I *need* a nice reliable car that I can actually haul more than 2 people in. (Insert tC Scion ad here) :D

Kind Regards,

B
