Default cutom turbo??

Hey one of my friends dad has a shop and says he will hook me up and give me a complete turbo kit installed, with intercooler for $900. I have an auto so i want very low boost 5ish range . is there anything i should know before hand?

Or can i really screw up my car on a custom job even running super low boost?

also what about insurance? Do i tell them?

Well with any aftermarket mods you always run the risk of screwing up your car, especially when it comes to FI. If you know the shop is reputable, then I guess it couldn't be a bad idea, but then again $900 for a custom kit sounds to good to be true. As for insurance I'm not sure what you would do, I guess it depends on your insurance company. You're better off calling them and asking what their policy is.

I really dont see how its possible to have a good, reliable kit for 900 dollars. It would be REALLY hard to do.

I would find out the specifics of the kit. Exactly what parts they will be using and if that price actually includes everything you need. It's hard to imagine someone doing a complete and quality turbo kit and selling if for that price. It's almost impossible to do with new parts.

Yes, along with whether or not they intend to upgrade the fuel injectors and/or fuel pump and reprogram the ECU.

http://www.homemadeturbo.com

You can get a turbo setup for under $500 if you know what you are doing, what to look for, and what the junkyards have in stock.

Granted, I would never want to do that to MY tC, it is a good place for turbo information. You can get descent stuff pretty cheap. Be sure to keep us posted on what you do. Good luck.
