are you trying to turn them by hand? if so, you are gonna need to be pretty strong to compress the valve springs. did u use assembly lube?
Sorry - just saw your pm - Im running stock cams, but I have BC valvesprings/retainers and damn when I was timing everything the cams were a major PITA to turn even with a 1/2" ratchet, so it could possibly be you just arent trying hard enough
(Provided everything is properly lubed and assembled and nothings binding) Also, you dont have the head on the engine do you?

Everything is lubes and the head is off the motor, also I have the cam gears on and trying to turn it by hand with ratchet. It just feels really hard didn't not think it should be that hard to turn I guess I will try harder and see
My friend thinks the caps might need to be honed and aligned, I thought this was un necessary since the caps were used on this head originally. But guess I will but some more effete and use a half in drive
I remember it being quite impressive the amount of force required to turn my cams with the BC valvesprings. With cams with even larger lobes Im sure itd be even worse. Oh and dont be frightened, its not smooth when you turn them lol, its like turn a little bit than bam, a little bit more, bam again - its from the lobes moving over the valves.
ok serious problem there are no valves in the head right now and when i lay the cams down with out the caps it does not lay on the cam journals. i dont have the stock cams so i cant even tell what the heck is going on
Sorry currently at work, otherwise I could just mic a cam I have laying at home. The only thing I can find in the service manual is the standard journal diameter for the large journal on the timing chain end and its supposed to be 1.4162-1.4167 in.
pics and a video of the cam not sitting in place correctly.
