Default Daily Driven Turbo?

I have heard that going turbo is not the best way to go if you plan to daily drive your car. Is this true?

I want to go turbo, but this little hook up is stopping me. Anyone like to answer this?

it depends on how much you do to your car. a regular stage one turbo with a good tune isn't too hard to drive, with about 250 whp to 300 whp.

the problems come from factors like how stiff is the clutch pedal which can become a strain in stop and go traffic and tire you quickly.

and how fast the turbo spools up. if it spools up really quickly, it can be hard to keep from breaking traction if you hit boost at low speeds.

also, you'll have to start filling up with 91 octane gas which can add up if you put alot of mileage on your tc.

and it can require alots of additional maitenance and depending on how good the kit is, the tune, installation and such, you can have some reliability issues.

it depends on how adaptible you are as a driver.

i put a lightweight flywheel on my tc recently, and it makes it harder to pull away from a stop in first gear because it has made it easier to stall out, but i've gotten used to it and am driving smoothly again.

I would say the trd supercharger is easier to deal with when it comes to daily driving but yeah less potential. But as long as you have a good turbo setup, good installer, good tuner, adequate knowledge and patience you should be good with turbo otherwise just slap in a supercharger which wouldnt require you as much as turbocharge

daily driver right here. its great, granted sometimes you burn through more gas because you hit boost... but it can be helpful, hehe get you places a little quicker.

I'd say go for it. you won't regret it.

Paul over at Dezod can help you out. Either that or Todd at TurboToyota's. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

i have my turbotoyotas stage 1 kit coming in soon and if i stay in vaccum and dont go into boost a lot (yeah whatever) "theoretically" wouldnt i gain gas milage with a good tune and staying in vaccum.. i.e. - more air and less fuel?

06 will not fit 07 the MAF sensor is smaller for 07 and 08.. you will have fitment issues and as far as DEZOD kits.. they are only sold through DEZOD.COM<< They are performance! got my exhaust through them! you will not be disappointed! excellent everything including customer service!

i just checked my mileage today on my daily driven (mostley freeway) turbo toyotas stage 1. 19mpg. Not to shabby, and I hit boost all the time. at every light!
I don't have to, but I do!

if your gonna get a dezod kit, get it from dezod.com

OK, let's put that into perspective:
Before boost, I was getting about 23mpg, and I stepped on it all the time. If I wasn't on the freeway all the time, It would be much lower.
So, getting boosted, and driving the same (just getting there faster!) did not lower my mileage to bad.

Jeff, are you seriously getting 8mpg?

ive daily driven my turbo for over a year and a half... you might run into a few issues here and there, but that comes with forced induction.

Dezod has 2007 kits available and you can get them at www.Turbo-kits.com or www.Dezod.com
