Dezod, sell me on the aem ems.
I want you to tell me all about the aem ems standalone. I'm looking to build my motor over the winter and run approx 20psi. I'm looking at using this standalone as there are just too many quirks with the f/ic. I also saw on your website that you have exclusive idle control. how does that work? I want to know things such as:
cost/time to tune
does it have target afr's
what things do i need or the is the stock ecu still used for
do i get a cel with the stock ecu not reading the sensors
anything else you want to include

Target AFR closed loop tuning is available through the AEM EMS.
Stock ECU to control CAN/BUS system for gauges, multi-plex for center counsel options and security system.
You will get a CEL through the OBD2 port, but not visable on the dash.

well i found the thread of the back and forth discussion of the aem and the hydra. i think i have decided on the hydra. my question is, with the hydra's autotune feature do you have to go to a tuner? or will it just do everything itself?

I have a way around that now...
Full Idle control not exactly. A/C doesn't work. You do have full VVTI control, full ignition timing control, and full fuel control. I would like to hear directly from others that have purchased this and tuned by AEM certified tuners and what issues if any they faced. If the tuner sets the idle below 1,000 the car dies due to the voltage at the AEM ECU drops below the threshold of the unit it shuts the car off. The A/C will not work at all with the AEM plugged in. I am waiting on a message from someone on the board for the A/C fix. They said it was very easy. The voltage issue might be due to four items feeding off of the OEM ECU power wire. I am planning on separating these.
