Different BOV'S
Ok iI have been looking at many turbo kits now and noticed that the auto kits and manual kits use different BOV'S. Is there any reason for that?? I want the dezod stage one for the auto but dont want the HKS. I would rather have the Tial 50 mm.. Could I do this Bov with this setup??
It's doable and we can sell the kit without the HKS blow-off valve but...
We switched from TiAL for a reason. The driveability is MUCH better with the HKS. It wont stall out like the TiAL does, wont back fire anywhere near as much, and wont run pig rich when you're going in traffic.
Don't get me wrong I'd take a TiAL any day, I love them. But, when you drive your car all the time, you want to make sure it runs the way it should. Do you really want it stallin out or bogging from running excessively rich? If you still dont mind, like I said it's doable. But I'll help educate you on the decision should you have more questions.

Joe, I noticed while browsing ebay the other day that HKS sells a different insert (a purple one) that replaces the chrome or gold colored "triple-fin" design that is stock on the SSQ BOV. It's supposed to reduce some of the HKS SSQ whistle sound that some folks don't like. It was advertized as giving the BOV a lower frequency sound. More wuuuuusssssssh and less wiiiiiisssssssh
You know anything about the purple insert?
Yea, the cool thing about the HKS is that it's a two-stage design so it doesn't screw with the MAF as much as a single piston BOV.
Here is the lik

HKS also came out with a new BOV all together now.

i have the purple. on streetfire, there is a srt4 with the purple insert. on the tc it pretty much sounds like that. you get that lower pitch sound followed by the high pitch of the old insert.
idk, i like it cuz its different.

i've had two HKS SSQV's on my setup. First one was the original one without the adjustment on the back, thought it was bad because it fluttered ALL THE TIME. how i have the 2007 SSQV and that purple in insert and it really is a lower tune but still fluttered a lot. now i have the sane BOV with the recirc adaptor and about two feet of hose on it to atmosphere. want to talk about good sound? that is quieter and goes "flutter, PPPOOOOSSSSHHH, fluterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" it's kinda in stereo. at max boost, its high flutter on left side then the POOOOSH on the right, then right flutter (but barely). defeinately a different sound. thought about some of those kazoo sound makers and putting some of those on the pipe but ran into turbo probs before i had a chance.

I run the new style hks, it is the exact same bov but they changed the design as to many companies were copying them. Here is what the new looks like in car, looks WAY better in person than the pics...
