datalog and wideband.....but like ace said....once its actually engaged itll look lean because its misfiring....if your afr's are correct in boost then you shuold be fine. and cory....30 psi will be great for that gt30...especially with your .82 exhaust
That was my initial thought when I started playing around with it. But then people started commenting that their wideband was reading 10's and 11's and mine wasn't so I thought I was doing something wrong. Hence the reason why I never thought I had it setup properly.
The one thing though I'm not getting is that the two step engages bounce and bounce and then it goes flat...and then bounce bounce bounce again and then flat. If you launch during the flat part, it bogs. This would not be a problem if you have all the time in the world to launch, but sitting at the drag strip...trying to time the tree and hit the throttle at the right time so that you have a good Two Step launch and a good reaction time at the same time....is two comber sum. If I'm able to hit the two step and hold it for a few sec as the tree drops and I can just concentrate on the launch then I'm good to go. But as mentioned, holding the two step for a few sec you end up launching in the flat part and bog off the line.
My datalog shows when the two step flats.....the injector duty cycle is dropping to 0.

bah...that means i have to actually re setup mine....ive used two step once and spun to bad so i just took it off....oh well...ill make a video so everyone can see
I have a theory and I think I have this figured out. It wasn't that I was doing anything wrong. I simply had the launch rpms to low. I think anything less than 4000rpms will cause the Ultimate to cut IGN slower, thus prolonging the "FLAT" part of the two step. Every video I have checked out on Youtube of Hydra two step on the tC, WotBox two step, and even Elevations AEM two step vid.....ALL of them are 4000k rpms or more. The WOTBox's default setting is 4k RPM launch.
This all makes sense as well. Back when I first tested it out when I had the turbo on, I had the rpms set at 3500. And it would do as described (bounce...bounce...bounce...flat...bounce..bounce...etc). BUUUUUTTTT....when I tested it out at 4000rpms...it sounded like a Machine Gun. At the time, I did not have the full understanding of the Adj box and had the IGN adj set to high thus generating extensive EGT temps spooling my turbo up to 10lbs of boost during the two step.
10 PSI + 2step and holding it = Pop on the motor. This is how I popped it to its death. I am not kidding here, I was 2stepping the ultimate at 10lbs of boost @ 4k rpms.
If you set the Ultimate to low in rpms it will do as described. But set it at 4k or more like the rest of the videos I've seen of tC's with two steps on them...it will work the same as the WOTBox, AEM EMS, Hydra, and other Standalones.
This I think is a thing with the tC and not with the managements as far as the rpms go. It's causing misfiring obviously. And doing it below 4k the Misfires are long and drawn out, thus creating the problem of timing your launch.
As mentioned, the tC has a "Shift UP" box in the same section. The Shift UP is designated for "No lift shifting". So, this is where you want to set what rpms you want IGN to cut when it senses the powershift. With the WOTBox, to do Powershifting, the directions require that you wire into the clutch switch. I am not sure if this has to be done with the Ultimate, or if the Ultimate simply does it through the PnP harness. I have not fully tested this yet, just a simple 3-4 shift.
yeah not loosing boost is like mean lol so im off heading to a dyno right now to try to get my wot pulls ok for the race this week look for updates i will also try that 2 step theory let you know how it goes
Oh yeah I know all about that. That's how I race. I was doing it a long time ago though before anyone was using the feature. I was doing without the feature.
