Default Which drop-in air filter for the SC?

I know people have been talking about some drop-in air filter for the TRD SC. Which one is it? Is it a TRD filter? Or perhaps K&N? Any info greatly appreciated....

If I remember correctly it a 3.3L camry TRD filter. I'll have to double check that on Monday to be sure though.

I looked up on the K&N site....for the 3.3L Camry, they have two different filters...one for the 04 and 05 model, and then a slightly different size filter for the 06 3.3L engine.

This is for the 2006.. http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2219

This is for the 2004-2005... http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2260

Somthing is way off. I just measured mine at approx 7.25" wide x 12.25 long.

The k&n could replace the plastic outside case that the hydrocarbon filter is attached to which would be sweet. After measuring the hydrocarbon case it looks like th e04-05 is the one which I already placed on order. Will let you guys know how she works out!

It's the same filter that goes on older 2.2L camrys and a lot of V6 3.0L toyotas...

If you have little trust in us - take the box that SC paper filter came in and cross-reference it with K&N part numbers ;)

Ok, so now it's been settled that the K&N part number for the TRD supercharger air filter is 33-2145-1 and the TRD part number for its own TRD filter is PTR05-06990-01. The TRD one that is available is not the one that came with the kit. It's a nice setup just like the K&N.

Which one should I use?

BTW, the reason why I made a new thread discussing the material in this post right here was because I felt it warranted a new thread, especially for people searching the forums in the future. This thread is concerned with confirming existence of a filter. The new one I made was intended for a comparison. In my humble opinion, I think the judgment to lock the thread was passed too quickly.

I've been running K&N since day 1 - don't expect a "night and day" difference...

I do not at all, but with the combo of the k&n and the removal of the hydrocarbon filter, it should net a nice gain.

I thought there was a test done on here that shows the aftermarket drop in filters actually reduces power.

Edit: Found the tests. The K&N dropin filter actually lost a little over 1hp. You can see the dyno graphs and results here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92108

Umm, right. Inertial dyno is so acurate, you can tell +/- 1hp difference.
