Oh boy, Ebay turbos. Anything off Ebay is low for a reason. I would suggest going with TT or Dezod or something that is reputable/reliable.

OOOO $599.99 for a turbo, what they forgot to tell you is the blown engine that comes after you install it.

Brand new Garrett T3/T4 turbos cost about $550-$600.

Did you mean a turbo itself or a whole kit?

If it was just for a turbo I'd rather buy it from a known turbo supplier for that price.

Don't buy one of those kits they are garbage. you will be lucky if the turbo doesn't mess up upon startup, if you make it past start up I would give a max life of 1month. The only thing those kits might be good for is the IC pipes and an IC assuming they are made out of decent materials and they fit. I would not put my money on anything from that kit.

Have a friend who bought an 800 dollar kitt off ebay for his VR6 Turbo, running about 400 hp, and runs awesome, he upgraded to a better inter cooler, next he's getting a better turbo, but its a good base kit. no problems.

Not everything on ebay is bad. Be careful and read reviews. Remember that those kits require you to cut and weld the intercooler piping which is a lot of work. It also does not include ECU and injectors and tune which will run you like $1500. So, figure $2000 on top of that $550.
I have read that the Godspeed kits actually work really well.

Default Get what you pay for

Ive put several of these kits on different cars and you get what you pay for! The kit is incomplete, basically you get the turbo, manifold, wastegate, bov and piping. The piping is just a bunch of bends you have to weld together. The turbo and all accessories are imitaions and have a short life.

I bought all Ebay parts but seperate....The seal on the turbo blew after 1.25 years....but it only cost like$150 for a new one lolol......Replaced with "JDM Sport" turbo and currently running that with no problems!!!! The kit you speak of prob comes with no injectors, fuel adjustment system, and possibly a manifold which is the most specific part to each vehicle. My car make great power and I love it. If you plan on having someone else install it, I would buy a full kit from Dezod or Treadstone. Good luck and DO be careful who you buy from.

There should be a feature that's built into Scionlife where every time someone types "Ebay Turbos", they get slapped...

my buddy is running an ebay kit on his honda.

by the time all is said and done, you will end up spending just as much as you would on a name brand kit in parts and
labor because nothing fits properly. when you couldve just bought a name brand kit that bolted right up from the start.

what if you were to buy the full kit for 900 on ebay, no injectors or engine management but replaced the turbo for a decent used one, and BOV and manifold, thats still cheaper then $4000 for a name brand kit, what are the biggest problems with these cheap kits, just the turbo itself or what has been the biggest issue?

fitment is an issue with everything, nothing will fit right and you will have alot of headaches and time and money used to get everything working and fitting properly.

also, you make it sound like turbos are cheap.
they arent.

yea a basic T3 for a 1.6-2.2L engine.
we have a 2.4 which isnt that big of a deal.

idk what price range hes looking at but ive seen just turbos alone run over $1K before.

and i was thinking if you gonna replace it anyways you might as well replace it wit something nice. (custom spec'd)
