My probe is mounted 6" south of where the s-pipe and downpipe meet (like in Kaeon's tech article). Do you think there is a BIG temp drop mounted there rather than up in the exhaust manifold?

My numbers seem to be around 200 or so degrees cooler than what ZEROmotorsports wrote.

the turbo should be absorbing about 200 degrees so yes you are about the same as me.

Coming back to this again - since I got my s1 installed from ZPI my EGT gauge will occasionally reach 1200 degrees when running hard, and because of the placement of the probe tack on another 200 to get 1400. So is the conclusion we've reached here that there's really no reason to be too concerned about it?

My temps, with the probe in the s pipe 6 inches from the header, reach around 1200 on occasion when its warm out on hard throttle.

But my guage quit working on me. Dont know what the deal is. Its autometer so its a good brand. Maybe a wire loose somewhere.

since I tuned my emanage, the occasional beating will get up to 1400 in the header collector and possibly creep up to 1450 or 1500 during extended.

highway temps are still up there mainly because of the short gearing i think. at 72-75 it sits around 1200-1300

Does anyone knows how is this done?

Valve cover has (2) ports one goes into the intake upstream of the throttle body the other goes to the intake manifold.

I put a home-made catch-can on my car on the intake manifold side and a breather filter on the front valve-cover port. I guess if the catch-can was large enough it could act like a heat-sink...

There is a topic posted a while back on constructing an exhaust driven vaccum pipe that will suck out valve-cover gases and dump them out the exhaust. Real long and technical - It's a great read.

My breather filter looks a lot like the one on this post.

Here is my wal-mart special catch-can...

It's a modified compressed air filter. Works good in keeping oil out of the intake manifold.

Two questions... at the shop they said I should have the front valve port hooked up to vacuum, but I just have it open at this point... don't see a huge issue there, as no oil ever came out of it with my catch can connected there anyways...

What's the advatage of a catch can in regards to EGTs?

And, for good measure... I'm hooking up my EGT this weekend and wanted to tap straight into the manifold, but don't want to take the whole thing apart.... I'm taking the downpipe off to have my Wideband sensor bung welded in, and figured I could just drill in and add it there....

Add 200 degrees and it's about right? Just wanted to make sure... it'd be a hell of a lot easier.

I know I saw some where here a how-to on that kind of catch can. Could you tell me where?

Ditto, I need to go buy plugs anyway. Might as well add this to the list.

Murray Plus + 3757 cost about $7-8 plus $5 for the special order.

This is a std. 170F stat for Toyoya it fits like 30% of Toyotas models including Camry since like the 90+ and newer. Murray also makes a fail-open model also in 170F.

Anybody have this done on a non S/C car?

well if someone has a scan tool they would be able to see when the car goes from open loop to closed loop on the initial warmup . I have one but dont have the software in my g/fs new laptop . might be a good weekend project .
