Default ERL Performance engines specs/pricing

Motor packages seem to be a hot topic these days.

As a dealer for ERL Performance I'd figure I'd share some info about what they have to offer.

Keep in mind you do not HAVE to go through me to get these packages.

You can deal with ERL direct.

But you do get a better price through a dealer.

ERL Performance offers 2 different block setups for 3 different categories:

Turbo: Mild Street Street/Strip and Race

The Mild street option for the forced induction offering is the only one that does not include sleeves.

Nitrous: Street/Strip and Race

Naturally Aspirated: Street/Strip and Race.

I will be dicussing the forced induction options here. If anyone has questions regarding the nitrous or n/a option please send me a pm or email: Todd@whyindustries.com

ERL Engine building process:

Superdeck block:

- Stock Sleeves removed
- CNC Machined Ductile Iron Sleeves Installed
- CNC Machined billet SUPERDECK 1 Plate for exact cylider location (.00025"positionng)
- SUPERDECK 1 plate provides maximum sleeve support and ring seal
- Align bored for correct crank alignment with oil pump and transmission using custom tooling
- Align honed for correct size and bearing crush
- Cylinders honed on latest SUNNEN SV-10 for custom fit to pistons
- Pressure washed a minimum of 3 times
- Stressed relieved on Computerized Metalax Machine

Assembly:

- Individually assembled and inspected through out the process, NOT a production line
- Final cleaning of all passageways and all components
- Torque and Bore gage rods for spec and bearing clearance
-Torque and Bore gage main journals for spec. and bearing clearance
- Check pin fit on piston and small rod end
- FILE-FIT each piston ring to each cylinder for proper gap for application
- Measure all main and rod journals on crank for spec.
- Measure all main and rod bearings for thickness
- Match bearings to journal for optimum clearance and oil control (NOT PLASTIGAGE where false readings can occur)
- Assemble short block using dedicated ring compressors, Mitutoyo Inspection tools and calibrated torque wrenches
- All bearings coated with assembly lube to avoid dry start up
- Fully blueprinted short block
- Seal in bag and coat with wd-40 for shipment

Motor specifications:

2AZ Turbo Street/Strip: Sleeved: $3350.00+ shipping
up to 500whp

Superdeck 1

Crank: SCION
Rods: K1
Pistons: WISECO 9.0:1 89mm bore
Bearings: ACL (main, rod, and thrust)

2AZ Race: Sleeved : $ 3800.00 + shipping

over 500+ whp (over 900+whp has been done on this setup so far)

Superdeck 1

Crank: SCION
Rods: Manley
Pistons: JE 9.0:1 89mm bore Coated
Bearings: ACL (main, rod, and journal) Calico Coatings

* higher compression pistons available at extra cost. Considered custom.

2AZ Mild Street: stock sleeves : $2160.00 + shipping

300-450whp

Crank: SCION
Rods: K1
Pistons: WISECO 9.0:1 1mm overbore
Bearings: ACL (main, rod, and journal)

All services require a core.

ERL does offer cores: $900.00

I can find you a core if needed. Usually $400-$600 + shipping

How an order works:

We work out the details of the build. Once the customer finalizes his order, ERL sends a container (if customer is supplying own core) to the customer so they can package there motor and send it back to ERL for services.

Turn around time is 3-6 weeks depending on ERL's work load.

Just some more options for those looking to build their motors in the quest for more power.

Enjoy!

Regards-

Todd

why are the wiseco's overbored for the milder setup?

can we send just he motor and the parts to get it blueprinted and whatnot? can we skip the assembly process as i would want to do it myself, would it save money to skip some of hte steps that i can do myself?

The non sleeved setup?

You can go up to 1mm bore

but normally its just the next size up

ERL no longer allows the customer to provide their own rods/pistons

You can send in your motor just to be sleeved. You can also include the pistons so they can do all the machine work.

Otherwise if you get just the sleeves done, you will have to take the block somewhere to get the final bore/hone done.

You can do any of the steps mentioned on your own, but the sleeving process.

I have had a few customers try to do it on their own to save money. But in the end they cut corners and it cost them their motors.

So if your going to do it on your own...

Take your time. If your in a hurry don't even bother.

Use a factory service manual

Triple check everything. Minimum.

But in the end its all about what makes you sleep better at night.

They only do the bluepriting when they do the assembly.

When they do the full build, you are purchasing the rods/pistons from them.

Like I said, if you want to do the assembly, just send them your block and pistons.

They can do the sleeving and final machining. All the final bore/hone will be done to your pistons specs.

oh wait i see what you mean. okay, so they will do exactly what i was wondering if they do

i was just worried about the factory/modified specs and where i can find them, then i realized the only thing i'd actually be changing is the bore size, and they do that for me, and i would be able to measure that myself anyways, lol. my bad todd

I have a sleeved ERL block and it is a work of art. I'm selling it now as I am not keeping the car but it is still breathtaking. ERL is the ONLY place I ever sleeve anything of mine.

The mild street block, that is still a very good block for a turbo tc correct?

Yep sorry guys. I'll be around for a while. Not leaving the Tc scene till probably a year from now but long term plans include my giving my wife the EVO X and getting myself something a bit faster. So no point in building up the Tc. She loves the car but once I get the EVO finished, I'm sure she will like the extra power.
