So, Round 2 was last weekend. Just now getting around to uploading the pics I took. It was a blast. The last time I was able to make Road Atlanta was 2yrs ago. I promised myself I would not miss this year. And it was a complete BLAST! Ken Gushi was on FIRE!!!! As in he was killing it on every run! Consistent and straight murdering it. A lot of improvements since I seen him here 2yrs ago. 2yrs ago, an 89-90mph entry speed was SICK! This past weekend, they were hitting 95mph ENTRY SPEEDS!!!!!
Ken Gushi's tC is pushing 790hp on the 2az. For those who haven't kept up with the news, Tanner Foust is not running Formula D this year as he is super strapped doing Rally and The US Top Gear is signed on for another season. So, Fredric Aasbo (2010 Rookie of the year) is filling Tanner's shoes to rock the new 2011 tC2. The tC2 is pushing 500hp on the 2ar engine.
As I mentioned above, Gushi was killing it. Made Top 16 and then top 8. Gushi was stagged and ready to do battle in the Top 8 against Pat Mourdant in the turbo 350z. However, the Mechanical Gods chose Gushi's rear diff as a weak link and blew the diff....IN THE STAGGING LANES! I assume due to doing a burnout to warm up as they usually do. I was supper bummed
. I thought he had this one in the bag against Pat, so I saw a possible podium shot for Gushi. Ah well, maybe next time right? Chatted with Gushi on FB, and he is running an S14 rear diff. Going with a Supra diff potentially, that probably will solve that issue.
As rules state, even though your opponent was out, you still had to do a run (Bi-run) to show your car in working order. Pat came down, hit first corner and BAM into the Kitty Litter! Car caught fire! That ended his night on a Bi-Run....so, technically Gushi didn't lose...lol..
Anyhow, enough of the chatter, on to the eye candy.

Pic Break!
Fredric Aasbo was hanging it out there too. Looking good. He was running a GT wing on the back on the first couple of practice runs and didn't look like he was getting it down. He was struggling a little. On the next run after, the wing was gone and his run smoothed out a lot. He said he was use to running without a wing anyway when I chatted with him down in the pits. He got knocked out though in the Top 16. He had two tire dips which screwed up his speed. It looked good as hell though watching him kick the dirt up.

Me Getting Gangster wit It! LOL...j/k. I was sitting right at the Horseshoe and the infamous Road Atlanta "RED" dirt was abundant anytime a driver dipped his rear off the Horseshoe and kept into the drift.

My oldest (4yrs) with some FINE FINE Need For Speed models. He had a little smirk on this one....lol

It wasn't before long though that he found himself a seat at the NFS games.

Another Hottie passing out Exedy Clutch Bandanna's (of course I sat down too get one too...shish...boy can't have all the fun)

By this time he was done walking and tired. It wasn't as hot as the last time I came, but it was hot enough for a 4yr old walking around the pits the whole time. Plus he hadn't had his nap...lol. Wife and him went back to the Hotel and fell asleep while I stayed at the track.

gush has the worst luck...if im not mistaken they had a ton of problems running the beams engine so they swapped back to a 2az and now diff problems. If they could just get the car running solidly.

Isn't that funny though. A performance motor being less reliable than an economy motor running 300+ more hp than it was. 2az FTW!
lots of others have had fantastic luck with the beams...just not gush. I guess if something isnt working out for you then change it up. I am glad to see gush back with the 2az.
btw nice pics...never seen the tc2 before, didnt even know they were going with the tc2. last i heard rules changed and no one could really run a v8 swapped car. not sure exactly what the new rule is that caused the change.

I don't recall anyone else other than Gushi running a Beams motor in FD. Unless you are talking other motorsports.
Thanks could have shot more, but wanted to enjoy the event rather than looking through a lens.
Believe it was Firewall rules that caused some to change out the V8's. But there are still a lot of them.
