Default Fuel mileage with forced induction.

alright guys i was wondering what each person is getting for mpg and how many miles yall can go on a tank full with s/c or turbo. i was thinking of getting a s/c cause i want a lil more power. right now i have pretty much everything i can do to get a n/a pretty quick but just not quick enough. dont want turbo because i have a 100,000 mile extended warranty. and the last thing stopping me from f/i is fuel mileage. that is why i ask these questions. what can i expect to get for gas mileage. so pls tell me what u all are getting.

S/C will likely cause you to lose mileage moreso than turbo since you are always dragging the motor down by running the belt and pulley 100% of the time. Turbo, I have not really seen any loss in mileage unless you are on boost a lot. Still averages about 25 MPG city/hwy mixed despite 800cc injectors. To be honest with you S/C is less power, less mileage and less fun so the only reason to go S/C is maybe a cost factor?

don't bother going with the s/c if you have all the bolt ons already... you wont see a increase in speed. a full bolt on tC and a stock s/c will run around the same for the 1/4 mile ( high 14's low 15's)

and to take in consideration that the s/c has to use premium fuel and is slightly worse on gas.. s/c just doesnt seem worth it to me. not to mention you probably already killed your warranty with all them bolt ons you said you have.

so if want to go F/I stop complaining about your warranty!

by full bolt on's do you mean i/h/e? i've heard of fully BUILT NA tc's running 14s..stock s/c's 1/4 time varies, depending on the driver. on average, high 14s with experience at the track. i only read about one other guy getting 15.1 on a stock setup and he says he's a decent driver.

i/h/e/p with decent tires (stock is crap) and ether motor mounts or ETD and a short shifter, with a decent driver you will see roughly the same times as someone with a stock or slightly modded s/c setup... however at that point your running into about the price of the s/c and the install however you will get better gas mileage and not have to use premium fuel

and as far as built motors, one guy on here had built up his n/a tC with out juice and was running 13's

well this is what i am running. havent ran it on the track since i only had intake and catback. and ran a 16.1 and it was hot as hell. now i have all this. 07 m/t silver tc: TRD springs, TRD rear sway, MMW header and s pipe, TRD axel back, SS diversion panel, A-Power pulley, Ingalls ETD, short shift, TWM shifter cable bushings, OBX sport pedals, WR SW intake and ram air, DC strut tower bar, coolent upgrades. and not really complaining just used to a lot of power in a vehicle and dont have it with this.

what are you use to driving?? 16.1 is pretty slow (no offense). You should be able to rip off a mid to low 15 sec. time with those mods (if you are good enough of a driver, maybe you could run that stock), at least I would think so. I am going to go to the track to get some numbers before I go F/I (turbo) and then after to see what kind of improvement I made.

i didnt say i ran a 16.1 with all that. i said i ran a 16.1 with intake and catback with no traction in about 90 degree weather at 100% humidity. didnt think i did to bad. i said i havent ran at the track since i have gotten everything done. now im hoping for a high 14 or 15.1 or so on a cold night when the humidity is down. i got brand new tires on my car now as well so i can expect a lot better traction. didnt have ____ before. but this is all beside the point. very hard to run into a good race night in Louisiana.

I am saying with your new mods mid to low 15's... if you can do better than great! I mid 15's and lower are even possible on a stock tc, but I understand the conditions weren't that great.

well, I was getting about 25 before boost and about 22 after...depends on the tune.
You will loose yoru header and posibly s-pipe with turbo, but when your not in boost, you will actually get better mileage...charged air and using exhaust byproducts and all that...
no matter what, your gonna bet better times with a turbo then with SC because you only reach full boost on SC at redline, and full boost on Turbo can come on about 5200rpm or so, so you get to use the increased power throughout yoru power band more.

Oh, I get about 280 per tank now.

I've been getting 28mpg mostly highway in rush hour traffic (over 1 hour to drive 30 miles). I've gotten just over 30mpg with the supercharger, straight highway going through mountains driving about 80mph for good stretches traveling from northern VA to KY.

It all depends on how fast you accelerate from a stop. If you act like the stop light is the tree at a drag strip, you'll get horrible mileage. If I drove like a grandma, I'd get even better mileage.

with the supercharger my city mileage went up and my highway mileage went down a little. I recently took a trip 250 mile trip and i got 31mpg with supercharger, headerback exhaust and 9.5psi pulley. Unless i really get on it mileage is more or less the same.

100% stock supercharged setup for me has resulted in an average of ~22.5 miles to the gallon. I have about a decent amount of logging done. I'm tempted to scan and upload as I have it all written on an old envelope. I fill up when the gas light comes on. Chevron 92 everytime. Once and only once, I have gotten 25 mpg. That was my best with my worst being just above 20. I have tried many a time to get above 25 but to no avail and I drove like a great grandmother. I've tried freeway, cruising at 65, 5th gear, around 3k RPMS. Highway at 50, 5th gear, around 2200 rpms. Every combination, complete babying, never going above 4k rpms. Who knows. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong. My gas light is on right now and I am 270 miles into this tank.

I've been getting 23-26 MPG the last 3 times I filled up, with a SC and not driving very conservatively.

from what i have read the best way to get the best fuel mileage u can in a standard shift below 2500 rpm. in every gear and gas mileage will greatly improve. try that guys. i know its hard to do when u got all that power. buts its mpg or hp.
