Default Gas pedal or Drive-by-wire issue??

Aight, so i'm headed back from my local Zaxby's and decide to full throttle it through a few gears. at 5th gear i let off the accelerator and the car is not decelerating but stays at 3000ish rpms then climbs by 100 rpms then decelerates.

Mind you, this is like the 6th times this is happened between last year and now. My question is, has anyone else seen this for our cars? Leaving out the fact that the Toyota side has the gas pedal issue, this feels more like an ecu/DBW issue.

just rebuilt the whole motor, tried to use as many parts off the less mileage motor that i acquired (which had 17k miles on it). So yes, only stuff that hasnt been changed is anything from the firewall back that would be considered part of the motor or controlling it.

two different throttle bodies have done this on my car, the newer throttle body having been on my car for two weeks now. I think it has to be something else, i dunno.

List of mods? Also you may want to try to clean your MAF and reset your computer to see what happens.

i noticed this, both now and when i was supercharged. when letting off the throttle in 5th gear, i notice that the a/f gauge continues to read and a/f number instead of going full lean and displaying "---" like it does when normally engine breaking. but it is only in 5th gear.

doesn't cause any perceivable problem problem as the car is just isn't completely decelerating like it would when fully engine breaking in any lower gear.

Do you have any vacuum leaks perhaps? Also, MAF has nothing at all to do with it (if you still have one). Sounds like a grounding issue perhaps with the TB circuit if it isn't a vacuum leak issue. Sticky BOV can also do it.

Sounds like time to add Scion to the Toyota recalls.

Boosting in 5th gear is not very forgiving on your drive train as recommended many times before....I realized he was letting off the gas going into 5th which is fine. But boosting in 5th gear not recommended. 5th gear is for fuel economy.

when your 5th gear is sitting at 3500-4k at 75 mph your have every right to boost in it, its not a long gear there other cars with 4th gear as long if not longer than our 5th....

and its not 5th to worry about on our cars its 4th gear...

but boosting in fifth does put straing on the clutch but that only if ur chilling at 60-70 then boost......if you going from 110-130 your fine...5th gear is such a small window

Be careful with that comment. People are going to be blaming all sorts of things on the "gas pedal failing" now that there is a bonafide recall. One person, with a lot of modifications, having what they think was an anomaly is in no way a sign of a needed recall. When a relatively stock tC exhibits the real issue (which we have yet to hear about) then there would be a case for that.

i am in no way saying it is a recall issue. the pedal comes back up all the way, and it is not accelerating. the car is just cruising. and MPH is slowing decreasing, so it isn't as if the car is still accelerating unpredictably out of control.

Well i'm not back on boost yet, still breaking in the motor. MAF may need to be cleaned but shouldnt have any affect of the car still getting gas with no throttle or clutch activated. It's just odd. could be recall, but with the mods ive done to this car i cant justify it yet.

if you have a datalogger w/ throttle position you might wanna try doing some logs on that if the throttle position corresponds with your rpm or actual pedal pressure..
