Okay sure - you go install these pistons and rods from an engine that was treated so well that the 3rd and 4th cyl bearings are toast (as OP said).

You generalized and said you wouldn't install used stock parts in your engine. I simply said that on a case-by-case basis, I would. In this case, I would have to do a thorough inspection of these parts, but in the case that someone just took their working rods and pistons out of their engine for an upgrade, I see no problem with it as long as the tolerances meet spec.

how can you be sure that the crank is shot? im going to head over there and check it out either in a couple days or today...

I'm not saying use someone's rods and pistons that they may have suspected were faulty. If they're just normal take-offs due to an upgrade or the like, what's the big deal? People do it all the time. It's sometimes hard to find new pistons for some older cars, especially without paying BIG bucks. Not saying that's the case with tC's. I don't even know what a tC rod or piston costs, but I'll stick to my post. If there aren't any problems with them, I'll put used rods/pistons in my car - sure.

lets get indepth with this.

used rods/pistons have a level of stress already acted upon them, ruining the structural integrity due to the rapid movement and high temperature acted on the metal, meaning they will work but they wont' be as good as a new set would be.

furthermore the scoring of the piston side/skirts with the score marks of the cylinder walls and the rods with the bearings as they do move a minute amount affects the car's performance. every car has its own mark and leaves its own mark on every part. just like a gun. or fingerprints

all i'm saying is that it certainly is possible, but is it advisable? no.

actually this isn't the first 05-06 tc that had fried 3rd and 4th bearings, alot of them have it...they just are warrantied and my friend managed to grab his block

Mine are fine - 60k miles 30k of them boosted.

I get em for about that much...they are however rebuildable cores though. How soon do you need one?

Not too soon, but would like one to build while I boost around. That way if anything happens, I am ready . How available are they to you?? Can you get them pretty easily/readily? Thanks!

yea, but it's still pretty common. i know of 3 as of right now

but i know of at least 30 tc's in general.

well justin is buying up the crank and lower engine block (caps too). i could hook you up with just a bare block for cheap right now from an 09 camry

oh yeah i got an 09 head laying around. needs new lifters. I know that i can get ahold of an 05 auto tranny, id have to check to see if they have a manual.
