in my opinion, a good s-pipe back exhaust would be a good start

-Clutch+Flywheel (At least a stage 3)
-Boost gauge (always a must)
-Wideband AFR system (again, being smart)
-Dezod's add-on pre-tuned partial throttle EMS (no more lean AFR's under boost at partial throttle)
-Good exhaust
-Locate a local tuner

you're ready

You have to set goals for yourself...
How much are you wanting to make?

You say "beast"..
This is what you will need:
Bigger Fuel injectors
Bigger fuel pump
Fuel management
Stronger Clutch
Gauges(boost, wideband, oil pressure)
Turbo kit(obviously)
exhaust
Intake
motor mounts
boost controller
turbo timer(not needed, but good insurance)

a wide band air fuel ratio meter is not needed at all. Its a good idea to get one though.

Boost gauge is not neede at all either. But another thing that is nice to have.

There are plenty of parts you can get to prep your car for turbo, or supercharged induction. But none are a really must have, for you to run low psi boost.

My recommended parts for a turbo car are as follows:

Clutch
Flywheel
LSD
Brakes ( this is more for your safety)
Tires
Motor mounts
P&P your head + Valve work
Bottom line is. You get what you pay for.

A good tubo kit will come with larger injectors, the proper engine management with preset maps, a waste gate, a blow off valve, intercooler + piping, everything you need to run boost on your tC.

If you are planning on running 14+ psi, I recommend getting aftermarket forged pistons (low compression), some aftermarket head studs, a better fuel pump, perhaps some aqua mist injectors, and a stand alone engine management system.

My opinion, a boost gauge and AFR system is a MUST to protect yourself from wastegate failure and tuning issues. You can install any of this anytime you want. It's a good idea to go ahead and install a clutch (at least, perferably a clutch/lighter flywheel combo) sometime before so you'll already have that down and broken in. Also, with the wideband, you'll be able to wire everything in and just not plug the O2 sensor up because you'll need an extra O2 bung in the downpipe for it. A wideband AFR system is a stand alone Wideband O2 sensor kit. There are lots of kits out there. Just to list a few:

-Innovate LM-1
-AEM UEGO
-Innovate LC-1

Etc.

Innovate LM-1:

AEM UEGO:

Innovate LC-1:

A 2 1/16 gauge style is more practical than the LM-1. I used an LM-1 on my turbo civic. This was sometime before the AEM UEGO and the LC-1:

Currently going to be using the AEM UEGO:

AFR-- Air Fuel Ratio

Like i say, more practical. Anywho, i've gone through all this so far and haven't even explained to you what a wideband AFR system is. Well, there's 2 types of O2 sensors. Narrow band, and Wideband. This is where i need Joe or Paul from Dezod to chime in and take over cuz i'm not very long winded, so i'll make it very simple. Narrowband (which is stock on most imports excluding ours) O2 sensors read from 0-1volt and from that interpret VERY generic conditions of rich/stoich/lean. They are mostly used to read Stoichometric ~14.7 ARF. Wideband O2 sensors read from 0-5v. And take numerous samples every second and read very accurate levels of AFR. All in all, for tuning purposes and engine life you'll wanna keep an eye on a/f levels. Rather KNOW what it is then have something GUESS for you.

You are on a student's budget?? Is this your only car or do you have a backup car just incase?? I make sure I had a backup plan incase your car would have to be down for an extended period of time. Sorry not trying to scare you but a turbo kit has a lot more risk then your average bolt-on.

i am getting the greddy kit (check my sig to see how close i am to puttin down the cash. I have an automatic. I just got a boost gauge, pyrometer, and aem uego wideband... my tuner tells me i should geta boost controller, i am thinking of the Greddy B SPEC II... any opinios? given i have an automatic, and i am getting 440cc injectors, which e-manage is neccesary? i am going to be selling off my MMW headers and s-pipe, which s-pipe should i pick up for good gains? aything else i need to get rolling? thanks in advance guys!

Invidia Spipe works well. Just get a plain old MBC.. $40 at least. Both emanages work well. Ultimate allows you to do more stuff down the road.

This was about 4 years ago. Before there were any 2 1/16 size wideband gauge kits. At the time this was basicly the only option. Just trying to show you why the 2 1/16 guage design is more applicable

just outta curiousity
if i go zpistage0 would new flywheel and clutch be absolutely necessary?
if i keep em stock theyll just wear faster, rii? or is there some irreversible damage? (perhaps damage to gears?)
oh and... another noob Q (my apologies)
turbo kills engine life? my friend who owns an evoVIII
suggested i stay n/a cuz the tC is not really "up to that level" but i would like to unleash its hidden potentials :D

oh and smilezdc u live in hauppage (i sorta looked into local tuners but... to no avail)
wondering if u knew any...
