Default GT25R, anyone using it?

I searched for a few different keywords and only one person is using a GT25R and the post was very old.

I know someone selling a GT2560R - 707160-9 (to be exact from garrett site) he bought it for $500 he says to boost his Si but decided not to and now he's letting it go for $300.

I don't see alot of people using that turbo, but it seems like a pretty good deal to me. I will probably offer him $200 since he wants it gone asap and work from there.

Just throwing around the idea of slowly building a custom kit rather than buying a pre-done kit. This way I can kind of learn while I go while saving a little bit of money. If this turbo is alright for the tc, what manifold to go with it? Also probably a dumb question but are the internal wastegate springs changeable?

Thanks everyone. I'm not very knowledgeable on this stuff yet but I hope to be soon with some guidance. Trying to join the F/I crew asap

its a small turbo.. will spool quick but wont make good top end power

on an internal wastegate theres a nut you can tighten and loosen to adjust boost - if you dont want to buy a boost controller

Yea I was kind of afraid it wouldn't make a whole lot of power top end which is why nobody is using it.

I'll probably end up going with a Dezod S1 full kit. Little more spendy but DezodWest is local.

Thanks for the reply

The main issue you have to worry about with that turbo is compressor surge.

well that and backpressure on the exhaust side. 2.4 liters is a lot of displacement and it will limit the turbos top end power as well as elevate EGT's.

Quick Question about this turbo, could this be used to spool a bigger turbo? If you wanted to use a larger gt35r or a gt40?

^^We can spool the 35R good enough not to need another (smaller) turbo to do it. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't do that either with a 40.

I just need some guidance then on what to do... get a pre-made kit like the dezod S1 or TT simple? Build a custom kit?

Then i'll need advice on which manifold to get, what turbo, where to get the intercooler and piping, what wastegate, etc. I've never shopped for any of this stuff before. lol

I already know to look in the PPC for some of that stuff, but I don't know what i'm looking for as far as whats best to use and whats not.

I just want the normal power you should get from boost, I don't need any more than 300-350.

Probably alot to ask for, but I'm a newb

^^You probably should take TT out of your choices. You aint getting it anytime soon.

If you haven't done this sorta stuff, then why not just keep it simple and buy a pre-configured kit. Even those you can still change up a little, like piping color, turbo to use, bov, etc.

I know it's easiest to buy the kit pre-made but it's more costly. I don't want to take the cheap route but it would be nice to get the quality parts without paying extra because it's all together, brand new, and a brand name on the box.

I'll be ready to order i'm hoping before the end of the year. If not, than in January.

TT I hear takes forever to get the kits out which kind of sucks, because once I do get the kit i'll want it asap. So that makes me lean to Dezod.
