Well I've searched... I'm just wondering if someone here actually turboed their tC for the environment's sake?

I'm talking about a low boost recirculated dump pipe and environment friendly pre-cat after first O2 sensor, and a main cat that works so great, it rivals a PZEV vehicle...

You guys might say "turbo tC for the environment?", but as far as I know, turbochargers set at low boost PSI with good cat-cons though will not give as much WHP as "non-catted" setups, will actually be more environment friendly and could make your engine last longer since it burns cleaner and maybe even better MPGs with the right tuning method.


I just want to know if someone here has this setup or are you guys just gonna laugh at me silly?

I recirculated my WG and keep my boost at 7.5psi. I do care about the environment, so I do what I can. Could do more, but, hey, its a turbo!

$7,000 on a Granola Turbo or $7,000 extra on a hybrid hmmmmmm. Let me kick myself in the nads and figure it out.

How much of the emissions from a regular single cat turbo tC can I reduce with 2 efficient cat-cons?


Oh, and I already ordered a GReddy turbo kit w/ pkg 2 Megan Racing boost and AFR gauge, HKS SSQ BOV, no exhaust yet, It should arrive thursday, but I'm keeping it in my living room not to be installed till it's time to.

Also, what else do I need to go with the turbo?

 

if you want to be more environment friendly, why dont you figure out what we need to run E85 ethanol? that way we arent sucking up so much gasoline. just a thought.

 

The idea is relatively sound. The compression means the car warms up faster and running hotter usually means more power if wrought from a unit of fuel. Running your cats will keep the SOx and NOx byproducts from hotter combustion to a minimum and finally, turbocharged cars tend to get really good gas mileage at high speeds, that is, 70-90 mph rather than an NA's 65-75 mpg butter zone. But good luck running a 14 afr on a turbocharged non-turbo car. Sure you can run less boost but then you don't get the benefits.

Now, I'm seriously generalizing but, generally speaking, you may as well buy yourself an xA to save the environment. Another option is work on getting the hotter combustion without a turbo. Route a custom intake to breath right over the exhaust header and get a thermostat that'll let your car run on the lunatic fringe of hot coolant temperatures. If you want to keep going, coat every surface that gets hot and use very low weight oil. But by the time you get there, I hope you've already stripped your car of every unnecessary ounce of "dead" weight.

I barely drive my tC now, it has 2100miles and maybe it might change as soon as I install the GReddy kit and have it tuned.

For some reason, I really don't like how the tC handles even with a new rear anti-sway bar set to medium, it still felt like a big wagon and an 07 RAV4 at the same time.

But, really guys, what else do I need for my turbo, is an axle back necessary, 10W30 synthetic oil for the extra load, please tell me if I missed to buy something else?

Once my turbo gets here, I'll check the wastegate if it opens properly and tape the box back and store it a few feet away from my tC : ) to be installed when my friend gets back by February from his temporary transfer at his job...

(OK, I can't weld alright! he does, I have to get my BOV welded by him and I want the oil feed barb welded on too...)
