Header Spipe and Axle-back with OEM Midpipe?
Any one running a Header Spipe and Axle-back with OEM Midpipe? How does it sound?
My goal is to open it up as much as possible while keeping it as quiet as possible. I have the SP2 and was about to purchase the Megan midpipe and Spipe and end it there to keep things at a somewhat respectable decibel level but then I began to think about it. The header, spipe are way more restrictive than the mid pipe so why not just stick with the oem mid which is pretty well made despite the fact that it will drop to 2.25" and ditch the restrictive header and spipe. The cat and the resonator in the midpipe should be enough to suppress the tC's tendency to be loud and raspy.... any thoughts?
[edit] I posted this in FI because the FI group as a whole seems to have a lot more real working knowledge of such things ... plus I'm sc'ed.

Im using some header ( I honestly dont know the name, it used to have a plate tacked on it but it fell off) Im using the same exhaust as you. While I have a stock s-pipe I should be getting rid of that shortly here. I hollowed out my stock cat (shhh!!) on the OEM midpipe. I added an Aero Ar25 Resonator and the car is really pretty quiet with about 3% rasp. Seriously though its just enough to perk peoples attention w/o being obnoxious. When I installed the resonator I didnt feel any loss in power, just a loss in rasp. If you haven't hollowed out your cat I would advise doing it. It seems to have gotten more pick up and its a little more responsive. Plus when its cold out and I short shift Ill pop a little flame out the back. lol.
if you want gains, change out the midpipe too to 2.5 and throw a good size resonator on it.. the greddy axelbacks are known for some sort of rasp.. no point in trying to see gains and choking it up in the middle..

it all depends on your set up.. you can gain more than 5hp with the right supporting mods.. he is supercharged.. but with my expeirence that greddy canister get a good amount of rasp with headers..
