Default header w/ trd sc

I've been wanting to install headers for quite some time, but dread the idea of having to remove my s/c... do I really have to remove the s/c to install headers?

no, the only hard part is removing the stock s/c heat shield. you just have to maneuver it around.

make sure you have a angled socket that can fit to tighten the left header nut.

buy new gasket, dont risk using old gasket and get a leak later

You dont have to remove it but you might have to bend the shield down a VERy little bit to get it to pass under the shaft. I installed my header w/ the s/c on so it surely is something that can be done. To get extra space to work you can remove your radiator fans ...that will give you more room to work with

It's a pain in the ***** to work around the Supercharger shaft. The bottom left nut will be the hardest nut to get off once you get the heat shield off. You don't have to take any part of the supercharger off, you can work around it. I did it with normal tools in my garage.

We used a socket piece that allows the socket extender to be bent ...so it wasnt bad at all.

it will also make it super easy if you remove your o2 sensor first.

you can buy the socket at kragen, it specially built for removal of o2 sensor.

you shouldnt remove the radiator fans unless you dont remove the o2 sensor first. it just give you more room to wiggle the heat shield.

try your best not to trash the trd supplied shield

Thanks guys! I got my alphawerks header which I got for $150 used from ebay/scion life member today and had it installed today! I am kind of worried that i didn't get it ceramic coated, but I believe there are several s/c owners that run header with no type of heat guard.
Anyways, it was PITA! As I'm sure all of you expected.

I have to thank Kydog for giving his time to install/help get my headers on; lol, more like Kydog installed it. But I tried to put in my work here and there! He had to drive me to autozone three times for us to find something that would fit between the DREADED left bolt and the alternator! I swear... the whole time I was thinking how easy this would be if the s.c. wasn't there, while Kydog sat there with a migraine all day (sorry buddy!). Anyhow, it took us quite a while.. but we did manage to get the header installed without removing the supercharger, so once again I thank those who informed me it wasn't necessary to remove the s/c to install headers.
As for the performance, I'm not too sure if Kydog was impressed with the header upgrade considering he's a former heavily modded WRX owner, but I could definitely notice the difference! Seem like all around the car is much smoother and I definitely have more high end power.
I'm happy with the results. Now for the catback...
