Default help!!!

Ok, so some of you might know i found out i have a lifter tap which isnt the worst thing in the world but its going to be fixed very soon with a motor rebuild

but now i have another problem ...i drove it around my block today and it decided to blow all 4 plugs ... i pulled them and they were carboned up to no end ...went out and got 1 step colder plugs and she ran like a dream but for some reason my boost controller didnt open my wastegate or bov it spiked to 11.5 lbs and right then and there the step 1 colder plugs blew out on me and that was about an hour ago ...i dont feel like going out and buying new plugs again...so i tried to clean off the ones i just bought and start the car up ...but she starts idles rough for about 2 minutes and then dies on me ....ideas suggestions?

What is the boost set to anyway? And what type of boost controller do you have? I have noticed (and would assume that it's common) that after adding a boost controller, the PSI would spike 1-2 PSI more then what it's set for, but would settle back where it should be. Does yours do this? Try running 2 step colder plugs, that might do the trick.

I dont think you can take the boost down to 2psi cause im sure you dont have a 2psi spring in ur wastegate.

My understanding was he was going to take it down 2 PSI from what it was currently set at. Which he didn't say what it was set to?

So, turbotc06, what is it set to?

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and assumed the other way around. Surely....I HOPE, he doesn't think he can run 2 PSI period...

yea i know i cant run 2 psi its impossible lol

i have the zpi manual boost controller which i think is the problem because now when i drive it hard well it creeps well over 5 lbs it goes straight to about 11 lbs and stops .. and the boost controller **** isnt even cranked in more than like 3 turns

so what the hell is going on ...my intercooler piping keeps blowing out after the driverside bend ... i hairsprayed one side and tightened it down a ____ ton and now it blows out from the other side of the coupling

theres a problem i know that much ...but its funny cause i just took it for a spin around the block again with the screwed plugs cause im not wasting anymore and she goes the entire rpm band and will build and blow off 4 times before the piping comes blown out of the coupling

and the boost goes straight to 11 psi before it slows down but if i had more of a rpm range i think it would keep going until the motor blows

and when i let off the gas on the 4th time ... thats when it just blows off ... at least i got more than 1 launch and having it blow out

^^So how about you remove the boost controller to eliminate it as a possible cause. If it still does that, then you know it's not the controller. As for the pipe blowing, why not duplicate the solution (hair spray) on the other side?

ok so now we are back up and running again

the car currently has
1 messed up lifter
stock injectors and it runs currently at about 7.5 lbs of boost

the next issue i need to resolve is...when im in boost the car tops out at 7.5 lbs of boost but the issue is so does the motor ...it just doesnt want to keep going faster i have to shift to the next gear

we are thinking that the stock injectors are the problem ...but it could also be the tune its running on ...but she pulls hard till it tops out at 7.5

ideas suggestions?

hmmmmm... this might not be the problem but give it a shot. first off do you have a zpi stage 1 kit. if so, what the problem might be is this. the intake pipe that feeds the turbo is a little long. when i first installed mine, the car would pull good up till it hit 5 psi then would go very rich. kenny found out the problem when i drove it out there to get tuned. the pipe was too long. it was going up inside the cone filter and choking it off from getting a sufficent amount off air. try running the car with no filter. if your problem goes away, the simply cut the intake pipe about 1 1/2 inches after the maf adapter. then reatach the filter. i hope everything works out for you. good luck.

hrm makes sense

pretty much when i hit 7.5 lbs it just stops like the car wont continue to go until i shift it into the next gear no matter what i do i could mash the gas harder and it just wont go any faster so i end up shifting at 4200 rpms all the time because it just wont clear 4200 rpms no matter what i do but free revving the motor it will go to redline if need be

im going to take the filter off and see what happens and go from there

You needed those tools to begin with. What kit do you have, I don't think you ever said? Wideband would have made it a lot easier to tell what the car is doing.

DIY mostly ZPI stuff with a intercooler kit from dezod .... its just weird because she was running good but its ok you learn from your mistakes and im going all out now anyway ...the car just drives 2 minutes to work and back home and thats about it until she gets rebuilt in about a month
