Default help with dezod s1 kit

did anyone else have a problem like this? the flex pipe on the down pipe doesn't mate up with the wastegate flange properly (due to improper welding), and notice the cartridge (90 degrees off) and the compressor housing (180 degrees off). i wanted to rotate the cartridge and compressor housing myself, but i didn't know if i would screw something up. any advice?

You have to clock the turbo. Just loosen the compressor housing and the turbine and spin. You shouldn't hurt anything but sometimes the paper gasket on the compressor housing bunches up and could tear. The wastegate thing is pretty lame but it is a flex pipe so it should bend. If you have a problem call them up they have really good customer service; even if Don does sound monotone on the phone.

yeah, the flex pipe does bend, but it's still way off. i'm taking it up to a shop to get it re-welded.

The waste gate is tricky sometimes, i attach the waste gate to the downpipe first, not all the way tight, just enough to catch. Then i do the same to the wastegate-manifold side, then i half tighten the dp to the turbo. Then tighten the wastegate all the way on both sides, and then lastly the dp to the turbo. Also try flipping the wategate into another orientation and see if that helps, i forget if its slightly longer one way vs the other.

Dunno, but its a pita to get everything on, unless you do it in that order. At least for me it was.

contact paul or don and they should be able to help you. and i believe every kit of theirs you have to clock the turbo; i think paul has even said that in a thread or two.

Yes this is a PITA. If you follow the instructions in our tech notes page about installation it should walk you through it fairly easily. It's unfortunate that all recirc dumps are pretty much like this. Everything must be tightened a little bit at a time and in small amounts. If done this way it will all come together nicely.

As chad said though, open dump FTW. Only problem is it wont pass emissions if you have to worry about that sort of thing. This will.
