ok i got a few questions for you guys.......now keep in mind this isn't an immediate thing I'm working on but id like to get some point of views on a possible engine build........ill start with a spare 2azfe sourced from a junk yard. Measurements will be taken while tearing the engine down to find any problem parts. So the first problem i'm going to run into is I don't have the complete specs of a stock engine. I need something to reference to, so if you guys could guide me to them it would be a big help.

second (please forgive me if this sounds noobish) I am toying with the idea of either stroking it or desroking it. i know how it works and the major parts for both but iv never done it.

hears the idea i have for both

stroker-
stroker kit, thick head gasket (idk how thick i can use nor what is available just yet...more research will be done), low compression pistons. prolly run it on 11-12psi of boost (just a short list so you can get the idea)

destroke-
sourced crank and con rods from another engine of maybe something from the toyota family, high compression pistons, on 20-25psi boost

of course either way the block would be sleeved, stronger head bolts, pnp heads (prolly from dezod), bc stage 2 cams, standalone ems, ect.

iv done rebuilds only so this is a new front for me, any helpful ideas would be great.

Chris-

few questions?

why stroke it? the benefits of stoking vs the cost of doing so is not that great, and the money saved by not stoking it will be well spent elsewhere and the benefit much more rewarding.

why destoke it? rev high sounds cool and as with stoking has its benefits if your building a car for a specific purpose(ie powerband dictated by gearbox limitations etc for a roadrace car, rules etc)

Now if you just want to do either or both for the heck of it...sweet. You will learn allot and the community would benefit from it greatly as you are willing to share your experience with all of us.

But if you are trying to build a good sound motor for your setup(future setup) there are better options than you mentioned. Ones that will have greater return on investment.

Regards-

Todd

well my goal it to transform my car into a drag car. starting with some of the basics and moving closer to a complete drag car.....i heard of someone stroking the 2az with some pretty good success. I kinda thought that for my app something drastic like stroking or destroking would benefit me greatly. I now see the light...lol
The first time i went to the drag strip i instantly feel in love with the motorsport, its straight up addicting.

thanks Todd and holler back at me....id like to get some sort of plan togather.

Apparently they read lower than a DynoJet, but not as low as DD. With the bigger turbo, you should be making more than me in the top end. Then again, I'm running a full 3" exhaust.

i had my qtp open so idk its the exhoust.......i noticed that your tune isnt hardly pulling any timing...this tune im on pulls an arsload of timing........1degree per psi of boost is about what its doing...........i think ima add some timing in.
