Default How long did your clutch last?

I'm looking to take my boost to about 9psi and am curious how long clutches have lasted on peoples cars running that boost level. I don't feel like replacing the clutch right now as there is only 6,000 miles on the car. Any input would be appreciated.

i blew my clutch at 4950miles on it, but that was for screwing around all the time.

if you don't feel like replacing the clutch, then don't race.

I blew my clutch on the third dyno pull haha... I did race it a lot before hand though.

Buy a new clutch whenever you get a turbo. It makes it a lot more enjoyable. The stocker just doesn't hold well at all.

Wow... Drive slow much? JK man haha!

I defintely drove aggressive but I never did any of that power shift crap. It still didn't last long. Probably had something to do with the drag radials ya?

it all depends on your driving style. if you drive it hard everyday then of course it's not going to last. Everything else won't last either. like brakes, transmission, MOTOR!!! if you drive your car hard all the time. cars need rest too.

i boosted mine at around 12,000 miles. stock clutch went out around 31,000 miles. that was with a lot of abuse on the street, dyno, and days at the track before and after turbo.

it would have lasted longer but i went to a better street tire that had more grip and started pulling low 2.1 60' times with it. the stock clutch didn't like that much. it started to slip on the track so i let off immediatly and was still able to drive it and take it into boost slowly. just couldn't try to bang the gears like i use to.

also when i would launch the car with the stock clutch i was slipping it some to ry and keep it from spinning as much as i could off the line. helped some but still start to blow them off for the rest of 1st and all of 2nd.

Wow, you guys are rough on your clutches. I do the occasional drag race at the local strips as well as some AutoX and a little road racing. Installed the turbo at 64,000 miles and have put on about 1,500 since and I am still on my stock clutch with no slippage (knock on wood). Don't worry, I plan on replacing it this summer, but no problems yet.

If you drove it normal like a regular car (which none of us do), then you wouldn't have to replace the clutch. BUT because we don't drive normal, and can't resist the urge to mash the throttle, it is recommended that you replace the clutch. That's what I meant by don't race it if you plan on riding on the stock clutch for some time.

Am I the only one who has blown out a NON-stock Clutch? I completely destroyed a Stage 1 Competition Clutch, heat soaked a Stage 3 Competition Clutch, and now am on a Stage 4. And for the record, I had the Stage 1 in my car at the same time it was turboed, so, I never drove the stock clutch on boost....

Something tells me though that it probably would have lasted all of about a couple of hours if I did drive the stock clutch with the turbo.

Not to sound picky or anything, but 2.1 60 foot times are not considered "low". 1.6 - 1.8 60 foot time is low for a FWD car. 2.1 is decent, but not low. I ran 2.1 60 foots with stock Scion tires.
