How many lbs?
Hey, I tried searching but came up with nothing. I was wondering how many pounds of boost the TC can handle without having to replace the internals. Or until they blow up from all the pressure. Thx in advance.
So lets say I run 12 lbs for regular street driving. Im not looking for a lot of power, just some more for the top end, since the TC is a little sluggish in that area. I was shooting for around 250 to 300 give or take at the wheels. Could I do that or would I have to start upgrading internals?
If you tune properly, I would think 12psi should be very usable on a stock block. And I really think you can get to the 250HP range without having to go to 12psi. There are a few guys around here that have really taken charge of the whole tuning process so just try to keep up with what they find out and share with us.
At 10 psi you should be at or around 300 whp. Experimentally, that is also around where Turbocustoms's car had piston ring failure.
If you're looking for moderate power, 6-8 psi is more than enough. This is the supercharger's territory - good moderate power.
For reference, a 10 psi tC should be able to beat a stock WRX STi.

depends on if you are running a turbo set up or a supercharger set up.
With a turbo, you arent going to be able to run as much boost, as you would a supercharger, since the turbocharger kits for the tC are yielding more HP/Lbs. of Boost
With the TRD supercharger, im going to say that the block can handle around 14lbs and with a Turbocharger, depending on the kit of course, around 10Lbs.
and of course... just because the block can handle it, doesnt mean it has the proper fuel delivery and tuning to go along with it.

Yea I know about the fuel, I would upgrade that as well, can't have lot of air with no fuel, wrong idea. I just wanted to know how many pounds of turbo boost I could push without having to worry too much about the engine blowing up on me. Thanx alot for the advice and help guys, I greatly appreciate it.
