Just a few questions
I am getting ready to boost my tc and I was wanting to know a few things that I might need.
1. What type of oil is best for a turbo engine?
2. What is the best spark plug for it?
3. Is 10psi decently safe on a stock block and internals?
Any info would help.
Thanks

1. Full Synthetic ( im sure Paul or Joe can tell you what weight to run)
2. 1or 2 degree colder plug( everybody has an opinion on what brand)
3. It seems most of the tC's are running 8-9 psi, 10 might push it abit until you can build the engine up.

Spark plug? Either Denso IK22 or NGK BKR7EIX-11 (we have in stock)
10 PSI seems to be debatable. All in all, I would say just make your local tuner cleans that tune up to safe levels and makes sure she is dialed into your driving habits.
^^+1
The question should not be wether 10 PSI is the magic PSI level to not go past on stock internals. You concern should lie more in your tunner's ability to tune your car safely. You can run the 10 PSI daily, but be sure that you have a good tune on it, or you will find your funds being poored into a new engine.

Climate also plays a large role.
I'm in AZ right now and I detected some knock at 10psi here. I pulled back even more timing, which richened it up, and I'm using Lucas octane boost with every 91octane fill-up. 91 octane here has a lot of additives so I suggest playing it save. Choose a wastegate spring according to your climate and gas.
I just bought a 5.66psi spring for daily driving and with the AVCR I can up it to about 8 or 9 for those spirited pulls. But I don't want to beat on the engine more than I must.

91, I think I remember Zach saying something about being able to only get 91 oct. We have 93 oct. here, at $3.00 a gallon.

We have 93 here, and it's $3.25/gal
Yeah back at home, Boston area it was about 3.25 for 91.
Here the octane has 15% solvents in it for "efficiency" and it's also oxygenated. So It's basically closer to 89-90 at most stations, despite what the pump says. That made my car run completely different.

I live in the middle of Illinois so the weather is a lot different than AZ or FL. Hopefully with the weather changes it won't be bad to tune. We get 93 octane here at around 3.28 a gallon because of the recent spike in price around my area. I was looking into getting a boost controller but not sure which one would be the best for my setup. I was gonna go with the Greddy Profec-B Spec II and turbo timer, but now I'm thinking about the Apexi AVC-R.

I can agree with Paul on that one.
I ran the Dual SBC Spec-S on my turbo Civic and that thing was great! Spend a few hundred more and go with the AVCR if you can. The new ones are amazing and makes my TEA turbo spool almost as fast as my S1 did lol...

Sure I'd love to get the AVC-R II however the funds that I have at the moment are not working with me. It's not like I have the sponsors to give me a break on that huge price tag. I also don't really know much about the Spec-S or it's reputation so I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place...if you know what I mean.
