dagness...why were they tightening your head studs? Did they install a header or something for you?

on my new engine before i left they probably used it to tighten down the stock manifold.

I went on ALLDATA last night and the TQ Spec on the manifold is 18-22 ft lbs, before the teardown i used a tq wrench to see what it was at and it was in the 60 range

i was po'ed...so oh well. just wanted to show everyone WHY i have been held up

but i got everything all squared away...so at this pace im set to crank this weekend...officially

My engine blew at mile mark 13,342 due to a spun rod bearing....then after the repair, i drove about 1/4 mile down the road and the engine seized again. ended up being the same issue with another spun bearing. I was without a car for 2 months back in 2004.

so this current engine/tranny i have now has about 20,000+ miles on it. Yes i almost cried lemon in pa, but i opted not too.

but now all is well...im boosted..finally

Well atleast we would have a Toyota Tech who know's what he is doing.

Toyota Tech and then maybe a custom tuner?? Had a freind just graduate from UTI in Orlando who is going to be a Tech and then open his own shop and another freind doing the same thing also.

Yep and also a Toyota Tech who is 609 Certified as well. :D

Yeah, it would be nice to go from Toyota Tech to Custom Tuner or let alone jump on board with a big company and really get my name out there.

I want to be able to say "i worked on that car"

I think what happend to your engine is what happed to the silver ZPI tC. Except it had a big a$$ GT Series turbo on it with about 14lbs of boost... (near 500whp) You think they could claim warranty on that...

blasted rod bearings...what is with 2.4L engines? That was the biggest mechanical problem with the GM 2.4L quad 4 also due to an oiling issue at higher rpms. Running high rpms while cornering hard caused oil starvation in that motor. The fix...remove balance shafts and install the 2.3L quad oil pump and pickup. Problem solved and a 15HP gain.

How did Kenny put it, the pistons wanted a window so they could look at the turbo.

Sorry guys to keep butting in, but the tc forums are way better to hang out in than the xB one's, they can be so boring at times and they are in the stone age compared to the tC one's ...
