Right click "my computer", click properties, click device manager, go down to "universal serial bus controllers, click the + right click on everything under it and click uninstall, reboot computer and try again.
I want this running!
i dont get it because I have Dell XP laptop running on Com4 for my USB-Serial adapter on my emanage. I didn't read too much into this bit did you change port settings on the support tool program itself?

Couple of things you can try if not already is change USB cords, try a different USB port, if it has drivers for it then install those first and then plug it in. Oh, one more thing, try to plug it in when the laptop is off and then boot into windows.
USB can be great or a nightmare but most problems are in the drivers.

I found some drivers for it, not sure if this is the one you have or not.
