Default Look what we found when we open the engine!!!!!

Everybody knows that I was running 356whp@16psi without having any problems for almost a year. I daily drive the car and it was running great. I didn't notice any power loss, any sound or nothing weird . But........we recently open the engine in order to install some new parts and look what we found!!!!!!!!!!

3 out 0f 4 were bend and one piston has some minor damage.

But look what we are installing now!!!!!!!!!! Can you see the difference???

It's a brand new set of K1 connecting rods from DEZOD.com with CP pistons.

I guess we already know the limit of this engine ( stock internals). Hopefully we found it without having any bad expirience . We are currently asembling all back together and in a few days more I will post the results. For now I will say that we made a lot of modifications including a new NOS system. I can't wait to see the results. Whish me luck because my intentions it's to push it to the max!!!!!

very nice info.
You ever drag it and if so about how many times in that year?

When you daily drove, did you enter boost more than once for every trip you took there and back?

I use a dual stage boost controler to change from 10 to 16psi. I ran 16 everytime that I race and trust me. It was a lot of times!!!!

And your crank was OK? You'd think with that much of a bend it would cause some nasty wear or scoring of the cylinders

Because its machined from the factory with a tolerance to the thousandths of an inch with a minuscule layer of oil preventing metal on metal contact. A bend like that could easily cause the metal bits to eat themselves, especially under the kick of that much boost.

I just want to know if everything else was ok, because that is some impressive deformation.

Yep, still on the e-Manage!! I am hoping that AEM releases the EMS for the Scion soon !!!

About the bent stock rods I will tell you that somebody forgot the 7 times that he mis-shifted from 3rd to 2nd gear . The over rev caused by the mis-shift should probably explain the bent rods.

That's crazy scary.

If anyone wants some ACL bearings to go with there build let me know.

Pito, AEM has one, 318tc is running it and Dezod sells it.

Yeah I know. I am watching his build: but as you know they are having a minor problem with the AEM with the engine. I am sure Dezod and Tony will solve the problem very soon and enjoy all the benefits of the AEM EMS.

I am just a part time time tuner/engine builder and ScionGT35R is not backed by any shop at all. If we where the ones having the problems with the AEM it would have been a lot harder for us to solve the problem (or problems). We cannot afford that at this time.

I would say the bent rods would have nothing to do with the amount of power your engine made. If that was caused by detonation, your pistons would have been destroyed by now. That was definately from over reving the engine.
